The Department of History at Lamar University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track adjunct Professor position specializing in Latinx, Tejanx, and/or Chicanx, history to begin August 2023. candidates must have a PhD in hand or expected by August 2023.

The department welcomes scholars whose secondary fields supplement our current faculty and encourages candidates with specialties in 20th-century United States and public history. Teaching responsibilities include upper-level and graduate courses as well as US history surveys. Scholarly research publications expected.

The History department uses the exploration of the past to provide students the intellectual tools to become informed, responsible citizens. With emphases on critical thinking and writing, the study of history prepares students for careers in education, the law, government, business, museums, archival preservation, and historical editing and publishing.

The department specializes in the fields of American, European, Asian, and African history and offers both bachelor's and master's degrees.
