Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function:

The Director of SLP Clinical Services position is a 9-month, non-tenure track, faculty position with predominant focus on maintaining administrative oversight of and participation in the clinical education component of the LU MS SLP program. In maintaining oversight of MS SLP clinical education, the Director of SLP Clinical Services will work collaboratively with LU SPHS faculty and staff and provide support with student clinical placement in community and specialty projects.

What You'll Do - Position tasks


As a member of our team, you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following Job responsibilities:

   » supervise clinical education in the Master's program, including continuing assessment and modification of the clinical training curriculum
   » Develop innovative strategies and methods for clinical education
   » Develop student training programs in areas of clinical intervention, client interaction, community education, service, and advocacy
   » Provide clinical services at the Speech and Hearing Sciences at Lamar University.
   » Contribute to supervision of master's level student clinicians.
   » Develop and schedule clinical training
   » Maintain student clinical assignments for Fall, Spring, and Summer rotations
   » Coordinate with specialty clinic directors and administrative adjuncts to provide ultimate oversight and support for clinic scheduling
   » Coordinate with the SLP-A Program Director to collaboratively establish supervision and training opportunities for undergraduate students in the SLP-A program
   » Maintain updated policies related to clinical education in conformity with ASHA and CAA
   » Maintain programmatic compliance with SLP eligibility requirements for the state of Texas
   » Establish community partnerships that lead to training opportunities
   » Maintain community contracts to generate clinic revenue and/or clinical training opportunities and pursue new contractual relationships as needed to support programmatic needs
   » Contribute to academic advising of MS-SLP students
   » Mentor and advise students regarding professional development
   » Lead and organize faculty training in teaching and learning related to clinical education in CSD
   » Serve as an ambassador for the department to the campus and broader community
   » Collaborate with faculty to support the network of clinical managers involved in the education, supervision, and training of MS-SLP students in their first and second year clinical rotations
   » Teach courses at the graduate and/or undergraduate level
   » Support admissions, recruitment, retention, and funding efforts of the MS SLP program
   » Other tasks as assigned by the department chair

Minimum Qualifications (Education & practice): What You'll Need to Succeed - Minimum Qualifications


To be prosperous in this function and a great addition to our team we need you to come with the following:

   » Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a
   » Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of Texas
   » ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
   » Minimum of five years clinical practice practice and
   » Minimum of three years practice providing clinical supervision
   » Completion of a minimum of 2 hours of ASHA-approved professional development/continuing education in clinical instruction/supervision
   » expertise of MS SLP licensure and supervision regulations as well as accreditation standards relating to expertise and skills acquisition for MS SLP students
