Job description

Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM) invites applications for the full-time Dean and Director of Admissions position.
Reporting to the Executive & Artistic Director, the Dean and Director of Admissions is responsible for the strategy, management, and growth of the LSM admissions pipeline, student enrollment process, and overall student practice that surrounds the LSM summer program. While LSM is located in Minneapolis, MN, this is a remote position with the exception of residency during the LSM summer program each year. For 2022, residency is required June 20-July 25 at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, IN. Housing, meals, and a travel stipend are provided for the summer program.
Position Responsibilities
Recruitment and Enrollment (65%):
• Cultivate, engage, and expand a large portfolio of LSM student ?recommenders,? including LSM alumni, church and high school music directors, teachers, pastors, and others who can refer students and support their applications
• Create and implement programs, schedule visits, and maintain regular communication with recommenders that position LSM as a mutually beneficial partner
• Engage LSM faculty and leverage their relationships and reputation to attract potential LSM students and build enrollment and prestige in their respective studio or program area
• Implement recruitment strategies and application incentives such as live auditions, seasonal promotions, early deposit incentives, etc.
• Process all admissions and financial aid applications and maintain accurate records
• Maintain admissions platform to ensure effective tracking of leads from year to year, collection of necessary forms and payments, and sending pre-LSM reminders
• Respond to questions from parents and students all over the year
• Promote the LSM fellowship program and supervise the fellowship application and interview process
• Collect and review student and fellow audition videos and share with faculty as appropriate
• Implement retention strategies to keep retention rate above 50% annually
LSM Summer Program (25%):
• supervise all student policies and procedures, including the creation and implementation of the student handbook
• Hire and supervise student life staff, including adjunct Dean(s), Health Counselor, and Residence Counselors
• Contribute to decisions about program offerings, schedule, outreach opportunities, and other programmatic needs
• Supervise fellows and other seasonal staff as appropriate
• Serve as registrar during LSM and supervise student placement in ensembles, electives, and other student, faculty, and fellow scheduling needs
• Plan and execute off-campus trips in partnership with Dean of Students
Other tasks (10%):
• Maintain LSM's relationship with its Collegiate Partners
• contact with leaders of off-season programs
• Supervise year-round contracted positions, such as Social Media Manager
• Prepare admissions and student reports for Board meetings, fundraising appeals, and other initiatives as needed
About LSM: Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM) is the nation's premier faith-located summer music program for high school students. In addition to advanced musical instruction and numerous performance opportunities, LSM students form an intentional community, living together for four weeks on a college campus. Since 1981 this unique and immersive program has guided the lives of young musicians, many of whom credit LSM as the starting place for their future careers and vocations.

Qualifications or requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• knowledge of classical music.
• 2-3 years of transferable practice in admissions, education, student affairs, communications, or another related field.
• Excellent communication expertise and attention to detail.
• capability to cultivate and sustain effective relationships within a population of diverse interests and views.
• Independently motivated.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM database, and social media platforms.
• capability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment during the summer program.
• practice with or knowledge of the national Lutheran church landscape.
• Organized with excellent time management expertise and capability to problem-solve quickly.
• Flexibility to travel and attend occasional weekend or evening events.
• capability to lift and/or carry displays and materials up to 25 pounds.
