Position Summary The Survivor Advocacy Resource Center in the Student Health Services is seeking an SARC Advocate. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

Oregon State University's Survivor Advocacy and Resource Center (SARC) is seeking a full-time Survivor Advocate. The Advocate will provide confidential and legally privileged advocacy services (including safety planning, academic and housing accommodations, financial aid, accompaniment all over reporting processes, emotional support, and crisis response) to members of the University community who have practiced interpersonal violence: sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, and gender-located harassment and discrimination. SARC provides trauma-informed and healing-centered care from an anti-oppressive and empowered lens that addresses survivor autonomy and choice, accountcapability, the lived practices of survivors arising out of their intersecting identities, and the community impacts of violence.
The Advocate works in close collaboration with multiple campus and community partners, including Counseling and Psychiatric Services, Equal Opportunity and Access, Office of the Dean of Students and other departments to formulate strategies that best serve the survivor.

The Advocate will work closely with the SARC Director in providing direct advocacy services for OSU members, providing training for students, faculty, and staff on the impact of interpersonal violence and trauma informed responses, and helping to advance a more supportive campus community. Along with the Director and campus partners, this position will help educate the campus community about the integral function that each member plays in ending interpersonal violence and providing survivor centered responses to disclosures of violence. These efforts will be conducted through a social justice lens, knowledge of working with culturally diverse students and traditionally marginalized groups.
This position will also support the SARC Director in the training of additional SARC staff, including support with case management.

Position tasks 70% SURVIVOR ADVOCACY
Provides confidential advocacy services? informs survivors of their options, rights, and available resources. Develops, and enhances survivor-centered advocacy to those who have practiced interpersonal violence situations, including practices that occurred prior to a student's arrival to the university.
Connects survivors to various campus and community entities who can provide desired services related to their healing and support.
Accompanies survivors as needed all over reporting processes (Title IX, Equal Opportunity and Access, and law enforcement) and evidence collection exams; and assists with academic and housing accommodations as needed.
Maintains confidential case files so that baseline statistics and trends can be determined and reported.
Exercises sound judgment and the flexible use of advocacy expertise, including crisis management and personal empowerment expertise.
Works effectively within and outside of the university system in developing relationships and programs to address programmatic issues and needs.

10% TRAINING AND OUTREACH
Develops and supports training and professional development opportunities for faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members. These programs will consist of workshops, outreach, multimedia, online, and other forms of training.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with local community-located organizations to assist with advocacy and referral efforts.

10% SUPPORT OF ADVOCACY EFFORTS

Assist the SARC Director in developing, implementing, and evaluating OSU's approach to supporting survivors of interpersonal violence, including survivor centered referral protocols.
Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs for other advocacy staff providing advocacy services on campus.
Support other SARC advocates through case management and consultation as needed.

5% VIOLENCE avoidance
Works collaboratively with the SHS avoidance and Wellness department and other internal and external programs focused on interpersonal violence avoidance.

5% SERVICE
Serve on departmental, unit and university committees, to include Student Health Services, Counseling & Psychological Services, Office of Equal Opportunity, and Access, Sexual Assault Response Team, and other significant university and community committees as delegated by the Director of SARC.

Minimum/Required Qualifications
   » Master's degree in a significant field such as social work, counseling, psychology, or related fields OR a bachelor's degree in a significant field such as social work, counseling, psychology, or related fields combined with five years' practice at full time equivalency in such significant fields.
   » Minimum of 2 years' practice at full time equivalency, in the provision of sexual violence/interpersonal trauma advocacy or counseling services.
   » Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and creating inclusive environments.
   » Demonstrated capability to work with people of various ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientation, and gender identities.
   » Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices in responding to interpersonal trauma.
   » Within three months of hire, possess or obtain significant state-wide certifications regarding advocacy training.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule This position requires the capability to drive students to off-campus appointments.
This position will require after-hours work, including responding to an after-hours call service that are of significant level of concern.
