Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Multimedia Communications Specialist position for the College of Public Health and Human Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU).

This position reports to the director of marketing and communications in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences (CPHHS). They are responsible for enhancing and building the brand image of the college and university by telling compelling stories of students, faculty and alumni through video and graphics. This is done in support of the marketing, recruitment and digital strategy of the college, bringing the college to life for prospective students and in the promotion of programs and research. This position is responsible for identifying, researching, creating and editing content as part of the college's marketing and communications team. The college and the university as a whole are committed to maintaining and enhancing a collaborative and inclusive community that strives for equity and equal opportunity. The multimedia communications specialist will work to ensure content marketing assets are inclusive to all, including meeting accessibility standards as well as representing the diverse range of identities of students in an effort to promote and enhance diversity.

Position tasks 60% - Content Strategy and Development:

   » Create content (e.g. copywriting marketing stories, scripting, conceptualizing and creating digital content such as videos, GIFs, social assets) for web, social media, print and advertising campaigns
   » Create content for and manage all college social media channels to represent the college brand.
   » Work closely with those responsible for content channels (e.g. college magazine, website), as well as clients, from concept through completion, considering audience and scope.
   » Contribute original ideas and concepts that bring the student practice to life.
   » Envision, create, produce and edit video and motion graphics.
   » Coordinate all elements of a video shoot and manage accordingly, including locations, scheduling participants, sound, lighting, production and editing.
   » Write interview questions, story outlines and scripts.
   » Shoot and edit high-quality photos and videos to best suit the needs of the marketing team.
   » Track performance and make data-driven decisions about current and future content assets, as well as identifying gaps in content and recommending solutions.
   » Deliver multimedia projects on time to meet deadlines.
   » Create and design timely content for digital screens and small print requests such as fliers, posters, etc.
   » Actively participate in team meetings, project planning and training sessions.
   » Provide photographic services to produce materials integrated across a variety of multimedia formats.
   » Use advanced multimedia software applications to create and publish content in conformity with departmental goals and objectives.
   » Represent the university and college brand in all materials.
   » Stay up to date with industry developments and tools and maintain an consciousness of design trends.
   » Conduct regular maintenance and posting of content to college blog.



30% - Project Management:

   » Serve as project manager for marketing-related video projects, including pre-production planning, intaking project requests, identifying subjects, setting up the interview/b-roll, interviewing subjects, coordinate review and sign-offs in a timely manner and working with the marketing and communications team to ensure alignment of strategy and goals.
   » Establish timelines and track production timelines to implement new strategies for future projects.
   » Serves as subjects' contact for all video and photo projects, ensuring they are comfortable in participating.
   » Manage all projects using project management software.
   » Analyze and report on social media engagement data, make recommendations for improvements.
   » capability to communicate effectively, exercise sound judgment and prioritize projects.


10% - Digital Asset Management

   » Manage digital content archive, including consistently cataloging, storing and distributing creative output.
   » Maintain inventory of video supplies and equipment; evaluate potential new equipment.
   » Regularly meet with internal team and college partners to gather insights and identify content needs in advance, enabling the creative team to produce materials with long-term value.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years practice in gathering information, writing/producing materials, presenting information to the public and public relations. One year of this practice must have included responsibility for press releases and interaction with the news media. A Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication or closely related field may substitute for up to two years of the general practice.
Additional Required Qualifications
   » At least one year of this practice must have involved participating in planning and administering an organization's public relations program. A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a closely-related field may substitute for up to two years of the general practice but will not substitute for the one year of specialized practice.
   » practice in multimedia storytelling, graphic design, photo editing, social media management, video production and creating and/or managing digital content assets (e.g. writing stories/articles, developing creative briefs, scripting and interviewing).
   » practice working with social media in a professional capacity.
   » Demonstrated success and availability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
   » knowledge of design and brand principles and capability to apply brand guidelines as related to the development of marketing materials.
   » Excellent written and verbal communication expertise and presentation expertise.
   » Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
   » Excellent time management expertise and capability to adhere to deadlines.
   » Active participation in team-located planning.
   » Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, including Premier Pro.
   » Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
   » At least one year of project management practice.
   » practice with marketing and media management processes and tools (e.g., Asana).
   » practice managing multiple social media accounts, i.e. Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn.
   » practice working in a higher education setting and/or with the nontraditional student population.
   » practice with data analysis and data-driven decision making, specifically in the area of marketing and content assets, and capability to extract value from reporting tools.
   » Education and/or practice with animation or motion graphics.
   » Demonstrated practice generating visual content for use in print, web and social media using DSLR equipment.
   » Knowledge working within a brand system.
   » Demonstrated capability to coordinate multiple projects in a fast-pace, deadline-driven environment.
   » Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups.
   » Working knowledge of HTML and/or web management system/software (e.g., Drupal, WordPress).
   » Demonstrated commitment to professional development in communications, marketing or a related field.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
   » The capability to work outdoors in the elements, traverse uneven/rugged terrain, stand for long periods of time, and carrying equipment weighing up to 15 pounds is required.
   » The capability to travel off campus for interviews and/or to take photos or videos is required.
   » This position requires the capability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
