Organizational Unit Overview The Division of General Internal Medicine provides clinical care to adults and educational direction to students at the Brody School of Medicine and residents in multiple training programs. We are committed to these services for the patients of eastern North Carolina and for our trainees at all levels.
Our internists provide primary and comprehensive medical care for adults. We have a robust outpatient clinic where we provide primary medical care, chronic disease management, and urgent care services. We also have several specialty clinics, including a Geriatrics Clinic led by our board-certified Geriatrician, a regional Anticoagulation Clinic, and a combined Internal Medicine-Psychiatry Clinic. We deliver all of this this care both as individual faculty practices and in collaboration with our resident physicians in the Department of Internal Medicine.
Our Division also attends on and supervises our academic inpatient medical service, including a growing Internal Medicine Consult service. In addition, our faculty supervises our outpatient Geriatrics rotation, where we care for patients at three local nursing home facilities. This comprehensive approach to patient care facilitates a seamless treatment program between the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Job tasks We are pursuing a professional registered nurse for clinical practice, education, and leadership abilities in conformity with the North Carolina Practice Act and established institutional protocols and policies. He/she demonstrates clinical competence in providing direct patient care and family education. This position is critical in the operations of the clinic by performing multiple tasks: Refills, Prior Authorizations, Patient Assistance, Triage, and assisting providers during clinic visit by: IV infusions, injections, and other education.
CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.
The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/practice Graduation from state-accredited school of professional nursing and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation RN licensure by the State of North Carolina. BLS certification.

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one year practice as a registered nurse.

License or Certification required by the Department RN licensure by the State of North Carolina. BLS certification.
