SUBJECT: ASSESSMENT & PERFORMANCE SPECIALIST

REPORTS TO: Director of School and Student Performance, Office of Research and Accountcapability

OPPORTUNITY:

The Assessment & Performance Specialist is a key function in the district's Office of Research and Accountcapability that would allow you to work across all PreK-12 grade levels and be directly involved in managing the district's assessment and survey requirements. The function would allow for working with all levels of district and school staff.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Assessment & Performance Specialist is responsible for managing the district's data collection and use efforts from the comprehensive assessment and survey portfolio. This position derives information and knowledge from data collected to inform instructional practice, programs, and school improvement. The Assessment & Performance Specialist is responsible for communicating student assessment and other educational data to various internal and external stakeholders and for providing technical skills on the appropriate interpretation and use of these data to inform decision-making.

PRINCIPLE Job responsibilities:

1. Manage the district-wide administration of local and state testing programs and surveys including, but not limited to: MCAS, ACCESS for ELs, and STAR Assessments.

2. Analyze and report on assessment and survey data to inform instructional planning and school improvement.

3. Provide training, technical assistance and in general build the capacity of district and school staff to use student assessment and other educational data to guide continuous improvement efforts.

4. Support the implementation of district-wide accommodation and accessibility trainings.

5. Monitor compliance with standardized test administration procedures, security plans and any connected policies or regulations.

6. Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of schools while providing exemplary customer service.

7. Responsible for assuring equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or discapability.

8. Perform other related tasks as assigned.

REQUIRED Appropriate qualifications:

1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent professional practice in the field related to educational assessment, measurement and program evaluation.

2. Extremely strong attention to detail and problem-solving, critical thinking, planning and organizational skills.

3. capability to write procedural documents and reports that explain complex concepts in clear and concise easy to understand terms.

4. practice building knowledge and capacity of school and central office staff to review, interpret and use assessment data to plan for action.

5. practice using the Microsoft Office suite of applications including Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel for producing district, school and classroom level reports.

6. practice in use of online survey tools such as Google Forms, Qualtrics, and SurveyMonkey.

7. Proven written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills including the capability to work with non-technical users of student assessment and other educational data.

8. Strong customer service orientation, responding to customer needs in a timely manner.

9. Commitment to cultural humility, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

PREFERRED Appropriate qualifications:

1. Familiarity with MA DESE reporting practices and accountcapability systems.

2. practice administering student assessments and interpreting results would be strong pluses, but are not required.

3. Desire to make a difference improving student results.

income: $75,000- $80,000

WORK YEAR: Full-year non-union position, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
