Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part time (15 hours per week) Student Writer for the Department of Integrative Biology (IB) at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Department of Integrative Biology is seeking a creative and engaging student writer who is highly motivated, enthusiastic and gifted at storytelling. This position will work closely with various members of the Integrative Biology community to produce content for the department's website and newsletter. Key areas of focus will be community members stories, interesting research, Department events, departmental outreach, assistance to department faculty in updating their website profiles and other stories that engage, inspire and inform our audience.

Position tasks Position tasks include but are not limited to:
   » Creating original content for the department website and newsletter
   » Attending larger department events and gathering information for original content
   » Reaching out to various members of the IB community about their research, other areas of interest, interesting and engaging information about them as people, etc. and creating original content from the information supplied.
   » Reaching out to various faculty members to offer assistance in drafting engaging profiles for the IB website.
   » Identifying or creating photos and graphics to complement the stories and attract attention to the IB department and website
   » Working with the College of Science Marketing and Communications Office which will provide editing assistance and story-selection guidance (if needed) that syncs to the university's recruitment and brand-building strategy
