The position is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term faculty appointment, with title/rank commensurate with qualifications. ECU's Department of Clinical Laboratory Science offers a baccalaureate-level CLS curriculum accredited by the National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). The CLS department has two spacious, well-equipped teaching laboratories, a preparation laboratory, a research laboratory, and a student media room. Information technology is one of nine departments in the College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) located in a state-of-the-art building along with the College of Nursing and the Laupus Medical Library. ECU's CAHS is the first and largest college of allied health sciences in North Carolina and graduates the most allied health professionals in the state. The College is located within the Division of Health Sciences on the Health Science Campus and has a strong working relationship with the ECU Brody School of Medicine, ECU College of Nursing, the East Carolina Heart Institute, and the School of Dental Medicine. The Health Science Campus is adjacent to Vidant Medical Center, a 900-bed, level-1 trauma center and regional medical center that serves 29 counties. ECU is located in Greenville, NC, which is the cultural, educational, medical, and economic center of Eastern NC. The Greenville/Pitt County area has a population of approximately 175,000 and is an ideal, family-oriented community. Greenville is 45 miles from I-95 and just over an hour from the capital city of Raleigh, and the Outer Banks and Atlantic Ocean are easily accessible for day trips. A few noteworthy features of the area follow: • Low cost of living, affordable housing, and excellent choice of schools • Desirable climate with relatively mild winters and four seasons • Numerous shopping opportunities, including popular national chains and unique, locally owned stores • 20 parks, including 3 waterfronts, a 324-acre nature park and an outdoor amphitheater • ECU's nationally recognized arts, theater, and music programs and Division I AAC sports teams offering entertainment opportunities for the entire family Job tasks This position would be responsible for teaching and/or developing lecture and laboratory courses as assigned within the CLS curriculum, superviseing clinical education practices within the CLS curriculum as needed, evaluating student achievement, participating in curriculum and policy development, and assessing program results.
