Downtown AquariumDowntown AquariumAquarist InternThe Aquarist Intern will assist in the proper care of the animal collection, including environmental requirements, nutrition, and the maintenance and appearance of all exhibits under the direct supervision of the Intern manager or staff Aquarists. Intern will assist in maintaining all department protocols, adhering to policies and fulfilling everyday responsibilities assigned in supporting exhibits and operations. Internships will have a commitment of 20 hours per week. We anticipate this internship running September-December, located on applicant’s availcapability. This is a non-paid internship and no housing is offered.Essential tasks: Must have an interest in, and be willing to lgain about aquarium keeping and the biology of the inhabitants at the Downtown Aquarium. Should be fairly agile with the capability to climb on top of exhibits and up ladders, must be willing to get wet, perform "dirty" jobs and handle fish, squid, shrimp, etc. Interns will be performing similar tasks to staff Aquarists (water changes, exhibit cleaning, and food preparation). Requirements: Must be current CPR and SCUBA certified. capability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods of time, climb ladders, capability to work shifts between 7:00 AM-3:00 PM, for 4-8 hour shifts, and 2-3 days per week (including weekends and/or holidays). incomeunpaidHow to submit the application:Interested candidates should send cover letter, resume and 3 references to E-Mail: JLMiller@ldry.com.
