Campus Living has responsibility for a complex system of operations which includes fifteen residence halls housing 5,500 resident students. These areas include: facility management (maintenance, repairs, renovations, housekeeping), fiscal management (budget preparation, fiscal monitoring, accounts payable and receivables, debt service accounting), administrative services (contracting and
leasing, marketing of services, establishment and enforcement of departmental policy and procedures, summer conferences, promotions and operations, neighborhood service office operations, central office operations), and residence life (live-in professional and para-professional staff, community development, educational programming, student activities, resident discipline, staff development and training, development and teaching of the resident advisor class).

Job tasks Under general supervision, this position performs skilled tasks with regard to the locks and electronic access control system and connected database for Campus Living. This position is a primary department interface to campus Information technology personnel for specialized help and network issues for the Lockshop. This position has primary responsibility for installation, configuration along with monitoring and maintenance of Campus Living security systems including the Electronic Campus Living Access Control System, which includes comprehensive, innovative, analytical, and technical consultant support, Locking Systems and Keystone 600 key system with the Sam box electronic key boxes to ensure security of all Campus Living facilities and occupants.

This position will perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance, wiring, mounting, configuring, programming, testing, coordinating and training on this complex and custom system. In addition, the work includes access control system integration with alarms, camera systems and fire alarm systems. This position will operate a variety of testing and analytical equipment and maintain preventative maintenance inspections. Position applies technical expertise and skill while modifying standard practice and procedures due to unusual situations. The position may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure,
and educational level and/or practice criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes. This position will also perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance, and repair of Campus Living buildings, facilities and equipment; and performs related tasks as required. This position will also serve as primary support to the Facilities Engineer and will be equipped to cover as needed. Provide planning and scheduling for short- and long-range projects including building re-keying and updating of door hardware. On a everyday basis they will review and prioritizes shop work orders to ensure they are completed as assigned in the designated time intervals per Campus Living; Emergency - 24 hours, Urgent - 72 hours and Routine. This is a working position and applicant will be expected to assist as needed in support of all shop activities.

Minimum Education/practice High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to execute the work.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation None

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education Two years of practice related to the area of assignment and Microsoft Certified Professional credentials. Associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related discipline and one year of practice in the information technology field related to the area of assignment.
