Samuel S. Fleisher Art MemorialTeen Lounge at Fleisher Art Memorial is accepting project proposals from teaching artists for paid teaching residencies! Teen Lounge is a free, drop-in after school arts program providing young people ages 13-19 with opportunities to meet and collaborate with working Philly artists, both virtually and IRL. Our Winter term runs from January 4 - February 23 : for scheduling and compensation details, read on!Your proposal should offer young people an exciting opportunity to explore a theme or medium of relevance to their age group. Past workshop topics have included sewing plush monsters, GIFs as an art form, beatmaking, character design, stickers and wheatpaste street art, and more! Workshops will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00pm - we meet on Zoom twice a week, and one day a week we meet in person at Fleisher Art Memorial. 5-10 students attend our workshops daily, from a variety of levels in art making practice and access to materials -- due to the drop-in structure of the program, the class group can vary from session to session. Please keep this in mind when designing your workshop! Teaching artists may also share resources with students via our Discord server. The submission deadline is Thursday, December 2 at midnight. After submitting a proposal, 8 artists will be invited to attend a mandatory, virtual Proposal Fair scheduled for Tuesday, December 14 from 4-6pm on Zoom (compensated w/ $25 gift card) to meet Teen Lounge students and give a brief presentation on their idea (3-5 minutes). Students will then vote to select which projects to run for the Fall term. Students will be selecting 4 visiting artists (2 in-person, 2 virtual), who are each compensated at $589 total .
