Job Description
The Worcester Public Schools is seeking a Data Analyst to design, develop, implement and maintain databases and applications for the Special Education Department. Primary responsibilities include superviseing district data to monitor special education compliance and to analyze trends; and, to assist and maintain systems that assures adherence to federal and state regulations that governs special education laws and policies.

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of Massachusetts special education regulations and processes.

PRINCIPAL Job responsibilities:

1.Develop and maintain various Access databases for Special Education such as: Medicaid, Circuit Breaker, Out of District Tuition Reports and develop custom reports located on state and federal regulations

2.Data Analysis and Compliance Reporting for: DESE Indicators, Child Find, Referrals, IEPs Timelines, DOJ Requirements for English Learners with Disabilities, Disproportionality of SWD, Test Accommodations, and Placements for students with disabilities

3.Develop and maintain data reports using the district student management system (SAGE) to assist schools, staff and administration to monitor IEP compliance, timelines, translations and referrals, and complete annual DESE reports

4.Collaborate with the District Information Technology Department and other departments to ensure the accuracy of all required district reports

5.Confer with and provide data reports and verification of information to DESE, District and State auditors for periodic record reviews.

6.Prepares internal reports and queries by compiling, sorting, and verifying the accuracy of data entered on a continuous basis to be used by special education staff

7.Provide computer and technical support to all personnel within the Special Education Department. This includes hardware and software support for all staff which also includes: technology purchases, maintain licenses and provide on-going professional development training to special education and district staff

8.Proficient programming expertise, organizational expertise and the capability to problem solve to meet timelines

9. Maintain out of district tuition data base accounts and monitor accuracy to ensure services are documented for circuit breaker claiming

REQUIRED Appropriate qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Science - Computers / Data Analytics /Mathematics and or related field.
Knowledge of Microsoft Access including SQL and Visual Basic

2. broad knowledge of creating software applications (e.g. Microsoft Access, Excel, Annual Cost Reports, Medicaid Administrative Claims, Circuit Breaker) etc.,

3. practice interpreting written and numerical data expeditiously and accurately

4. capability to create and maintain relational databases, file verification, and modifications

5. Knowledge of Microsoft Access including SQL and Visual Basic

6. capability to produce accurate work while meeting deadlines

7. capability to manage multiple processes and reporting requirements simultaneously

PREFERRED Appropriate qualifications:

1. practice working with analytics and computer programming

2. Background in working in an educational environment

3. Knowledge of DESE reporting requirements and MA state indicators

4. knowledge of the IEP process including timelines and reporting requirements

5. capability to design professional development training with emphasis on Microsoft programming and Google in order to provide technical support to special education and district staff

This is a NON-REPRESENTED POSITION year-round position which includes paid sick, personal, and vacation time. The workday is 8:30-4:30. The income range for this position is $75,000-$80,000 commensurate with practice and expertise.
