Summary
The person in this function will report to the Senior Director of Distribution and play a key function in supporting ITVS's overall distribution and partner relations strategy, with a focus on the public media system. They will work as a liaison with the Production, Programming, Business Legal Affairs, and Audience Development units to ensure a high standard of efficient and accurate management of ITVS pipeline titles and distribution rights. Responsibilities include: collaborating with Senior Director on non-public media integrations and innovations; project managing submission, distribution, and rights tracking of ITVS-funded films across signature public television series and distributors including, Independent Lens (IL), Point of View (POV), Public Broadcasting System (PBS), World Channel and more; maximizing distribution of ITVS's new release, catalog, and digital-native content across digital platforms; maintaining strong relationships with major public media partners, filmmakers, and internal ITVS cross-teams; and managing and contributing to catalog avails systems, as well as distribution tracking databases, reporting, and processes.

Essential Functions
   » Manage submission workflows and work closely with various business units (eg, Business Affairs, Programming, Production) to fulfill core production distributions across public media, including annual PBS Online Film Festival and US Int'l Public Television Conference (INPUT).
   » Track distribution across platforms and series including but not limited to IL, POV, American Masters, PBS, World Channel, NETA, PBS Plus.
   » Lead internal cross-departmental meetings to review and assess long-form films' project readiness and and track production-to-submission progress.
   » In collaboration with Senior Director, strategize and prepare for recurring and ad hoc external partner meetings, including agenda, meeting material, and calendar maintenance.
   » In partnership with Senior Director, develop clear and actionable strategies for emerging types of content licenses, and deliver internal presentations around key strategic initiatives.
   » supervise and ensure detailed accuracy of institution-wide and unit-specific tracking databases which include partner metrics, release dates, rights windows and more; in partnership with the Business Legal Affairs (BLA) unit, be the Distribution unit's point person for questions and concerns regarding data.
   » Manage and contribute creative ideation around re-windowing of IL titles in partnership with Audience Development units.
   » Assist Senior Director with contract negotiations and contracts with the BLA unit.
   » Provide regular quarterly and annual reports for new and encore broadcast, and digital initiatives.
   » Project manage independent releases through NETA and PBS Plus, including liaising communications and asset management between partners, producers, internal cross-teams, and hired consultants
   » With Senior Director, educate, engage, and lead filmmakers through various cycles of their relationship with ITVS to ensure consistent and positive practice; starting with the Programming and Production department; through to the Business Affairs unit; providing regular updates to the Audience Development department.
   » Develop in depth expertise of ITVS catalog to maximize opportunities with Senior Director.
   » Maintain consciousness of the flow of information around 3rd party Distribution partners and deals.
   » In partnership with the Senior Director, engage in tracking, surfacing and discussing changes in the film and television distribution landscape - focus on areas affecting documentary and independent film including: platform, partner, rights, window usage around SVOD/AVOD/TVOD/MVOD, noteworthy acquisitions, box office reports, and more.
   » Working with Senior Director, develop plans for new distribution opportunities and deal renewals across all platforms for program distribution.
   » Contribute to developing ITVS culture by proactively participating in institutional programs and staff events.
   » Other tasks may be assigned as needed.

Requirements
   » Required: BA or equivalent practice.
   » Required: Minimum of three years practice with data tracking, and, ideally, data analysis.
   » Required: Minimum of three years practice in communications,, and/or outreach function.
   » Required: Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word, Keynote with the capability to quickly lgain new databases, project management, and graphics applications.
   » Preferred: practice with project management tools, such as Asana, WorkFront or BaseCamp.
   » Preferred: Minimum of one year practice in film and television distribution, and distribution rights.
   » Preferred: practice maneuvering within different databases and information tracking systems.
   » Preferred: practice organizing and implementing new processes and procedures.
   » Preferred: practice and have an interest in film, documentaries, and/or television
