Job description

Pollen's Opportunities board is entirely managed and curated by the Community Engagement Intern. This position is responsible for editing, publishing, curating, and promoting submitted opportunities, communicating with contributors, and analyzing data. You will work closely with the Engagement and Advancement Director to continue to refine and grow the Opportunity board as a key mission-delivering and revenue-generating program for Pollen.
What you'll be doing:
Manage Pollen's Opportunities Board: Using WordPress, you'll review, edit, and publish user-submitted content. Once published, you'll communicate with contributors and help troubleshoot any issues via email. You'll keep an archive of published content and perform routine data analysis of the types of opportunities we publish. You'll make note of sectors, industries, communities that aren't represented and, using your awesome community building expertise, strive to make Pollen's Opportunities board as inclusive as possible. In the spirit of sharing opportunities that have the potential to change the trajectory of someone's life, you'll curate the best jobs, internships, calls for volunteer and board service, community events, and actions to include in Pollen's bi-monthly Mailchimp newsletter.
Create Social Media Content: Pollen's Opportunity board generates revenue with its paid opportunity listings. You'll write social media posts to promote these paid listings and, with the support of Pollen's design department, you'll use templates in Canva to create graphics to accompany these posts. You'll then schedule and publish these posts on Pollen's social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Support Engagement Activities: You'll join your Pollen colleagues in providing support on virtual events. This could include sending outreach emails to Pollenites and partner organizations, promoting events to your personal and professional networks, engaging with virtual event attendees in the chat, or providing day-of logistical support on Zoom. You'll also support Pollen's Engagement and Advancement Director with donor research, analysis, and segmentation for various fundraising campaigns all over the year.

Qualifications or requirements

At the heart of this function lives a passion for connecting individual and communities to opportunities, events, and actions that change our collective story for the better.
What you're great at:
Buildingrelationships : Getting to know Pollen's coworkers, clients, partners, and contributors brings you joy. You know that human connection, personableness, and empathy are key.
Independentwork : You're a self starter who can work independently as part of a remote team. You enjoy putting your own personal stamp on a project and owning Information technology from start to finish. You keep your manager up to date on what you're working on, manage your time well, and ask for help when you need it.
Communication : People regularly compliment you on your incredible email expertise. You enjoy staying on top of communications whether through Zoom, Google Meet, quick phone calls, or lots of emailing.

How to submit the application:

CoverLetter : 2-3 paragraphs in the email (not attached, but written in the body of the email) telling us why you're interested in this position and why you want to be a part of the Pollen team. We expect the length of the email to be no longer than 25 sentences. You will not receive more or less consideration because of a shorter or longer email. Please DO NOT send us a separate attached cover letter.
Resume : an attachment or link to your LinkedIn profile (either is fine). All practice across any industry could be significant. Maybe you've worked for a marketing agency or public relations firm, volunteered with a nonprofit's communications team, or are pursuing a degree in social entrepreneurship-in short, there's no singular practice required for this position.
Email E-Mail: julie@pollenmidwest.org by 5 PM Central on Monday, November 22. Interviews will take place December 6-7. This is a six-month internship beginning on December 13, 2021, with the possibility of an additional six-month extension and an increase in hours.
