This is a full time, nine-month, benefit eligible appointment and the position reports to the Director of the School of Design. SDSU is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to and/or coordinate course offerings that address the practices of underrepresented minorities in organizations. The School of Design is seeking candidates for positions in all three of the accredited built environment majors: architecture, landscape architecture and interior design. The School of Design also includes the visual arts: graphic design, and studio arts. Collectively, School faculty form a collaborative teaching and research environment that values cross-program and interdisciplinary initiatives. The prosperous candidate will contribute to building national and international stature and recognition for the discipline, School and University. SDSU offers a 4-year Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architecture and a 2-year NAAB accredited Masters of Architecture degree. Architecture has a unique mandate to remain a small program of no more than 220 students, making Information technology one of the smallest architecture programs in the USA working within a fabric of small agrarian and mining cities. https://www.sdstate.edu/architecture POSITION Job responsibilities: » Teach courses within the professional curriculum, such as design studios, lectures, seminars, and workshops. » Carry out a dynamic and robust agenda of research, scholarship and creative activity. » Provide service to the discipline, university, and community. » Teach in multi-disciplinary courses within the School of Design. DISCIPLINARY CONTENT AREAS: Architectural building design, technology, sustainable construction and professional practices. MINIMUM Appropriate qualifications: » Professional degree in Architecture from a NAAB accredited institution or international equivalent by time of appointment. » Terminal degree (Masters or PhD) in Architecture or related field or international equivalent by time of appointment. » Potential to develop and teach academic coursework in one or more of the disciplinary content areas. » Potential to develop a strong peer-reviewed research/scholarship/creative activity agenda in the discipline. » Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication expertise. » Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
