Boxerwood Education Association (BEA), a well-established environmental education non-profit organization near Lexington, VA, seeks Executive Director starting January 2022. Position is part-time (20-30 hours) and flexible. BEA is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Job tasks

Approximate Time allotment (depends on the strengths of the candidate and seasonal needs)
A. Board and Fundraising 30%
B. Strategy and Program Assistance/Development 40%
C. Admin/Office/Internal Management 30%
A. Board and Fundraising
1. Board Relations and Communications – serve as de facto member of all board committees, working with committee chairs to drive focus and activity; responsible for monthly board reports, providing recommendations, and executing policies
2. Fundraising – provide support and leadership abilities in relationship building and effective development strategies
B. Strategy and Program Assistance/Development
1. Strategy and Goal-setting – keep the organization mission-focused and action-oriented in a supportive, open, ethical work environment
2. Program/Project Management and Oversight – work collaboratively with the BEA leadership abilities team to guide and supervise various projects. This includes sustaining support for current projects as well as guiding development of several emerging initiatives and woodland garden stewardship goals as identified in BEA's upcoming strategic plan.
C. Admin/Office/Internal Management
1. Financial Oversigh t – manage fiscal responsibilities in a clear, transparent, and prudent manner in line with Boxerwood values
2. Internal Management – work closely with operations manager to ensure that administrative and operational tasks are carried out effectively and efficiently
3. Community Engagement & Communications – serve as an engaging, involved community member, leading by example in significant arenas (e.g. local non-profit leaders, local green initiatives); ensure all external organizational communications are high quality; supervises continuing efforts for promoting inclusivity, accessibility, diversity, and equity all over the organization.

expertise Required

A competitive candidate must possess:
•Superior communication expertise. Excellent writing, editing, speaking, listening expertise; capability and availability to connect to a wide variety of audiences
•Effective organizational leadership abilities and team-building; positive, collaborative leadership abilities style with staff and board members
•Systems-thinking; able to see the big picture and connect the dots between all branches of the organization
•Missional interest and commitment
•prosperous fundraising practice
•Demonstrated capacity for fiscal analysis and oversight (including capability to read and interpret financial reports)
•At least 5 years non-profit management or related practice.
The ideal candidate also possesses the following:
•practice in education, environmental learning, or related place-located innovations
•Personal ethic of stewardship: conservation, permaculture, ecology, or similar skill or practice
•Familiarity with and/or residence in the Rockbridge County area
•significant Information technology and media expertise, as well as use of digital tools such as Microsoft Office, Facebook, Google Drive, and Quickbooks.

Additional Info

This is a flexible, part-time position starting in January 2022. income is commensurate with practice and set by subsequently determined scope of work (estimated annual hours, compensated at the $25-$26/hr. range). Social Security/Medicare, and opportunity for SIMPLE IRA after one year of employment.
