Organizational Unit Overview The mission of the Office of Clinical expertise Assessment and Education is to provide and support
nationally recognized clinical teaching and assessment for a continuum of learners.

This mission can best be accomplished by promoting and conducting high quality clinical expertise teaching and assessment; promoting interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration in health professions education; facilitating incorporation of performance-located teaching and assessment techniques into health; conducting research regarding innovative educational and assessment strategies and programs.

Job tasks Primary Purpose of Position/Job tasks:
Standardized patients provide learners an opportunity to practice patient communication and physical examination expertise in a simulated environment without risk to an actual patient. In support of this purpose, the Standardized Patient Trainer
designs, implements, and evaluates specialized simulation-enhanced educational programs. This individual will supervise all phases of this process including transfer of knowledge of these materials to program participants and ensuring quality in programs delivered through the Office of Clinical expertise Assessment and Education.

Major tasks and Tasks :
The Standardized Patient Trainer recruits, trains, and supervises Standardized Patients (SPs) and Physical Teaching Associates (PTAs) to meet defined educational results; maintains an up-to-date knowledge of the connected healthcare educational curricula in order to work collaboratively with healthcare faculty in the development of simulation and experiential events; participates in the administration of quality assurance activities; participates in research projects; promotes ?best practices? for simulation suitable education and, is responsible for a broad range of interactions with external clients.

Key Functions and Expected Performances
Curriculum:
• Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate simulation-enhanced educational programs
• Train SPs/PTAs using established best practices, and quality control procedures
• Manage, coordinate, and assess exercises and events involving simulation
• Maintain proficiency in existing and emerging technologies by maintaining a literature base, evaluating new equipment and materials, and participating in educational opportunities.

Administration:
• Organize and manage the recruitment, orientation, training, and supervision of SPs and PTAs
• Manage all aspects of highly specialized teaching associate programs (MUTAs-male urogenital training adjuncts, GTAs - genitourinary training adjuncts, PTA's -physical exam training adjuncts)
• Develop and participate in quality assurance activities including psychometric evaluation of teaching and assessment data and methods
• Participate in research to support program and curriculum efforts

Evenings and weekends may be required and capability to travel for external client recruitment and program implementation.

Minimum Education/practice Master's degree in a clinical or educational field.

Demonstrated organizational expertise.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation Applicant must have a valid drivers license.

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education knowledge the use of Standardized Patient/Performance located Assessment methodologies in medical/clinical education and communication expertise training; be an effective communicator both verbal and written; possess facility in training and supervising prospective and current SPs & learners; possess excellent collaborative and organizational expertise; be flexible and adaptable while working with faculty members, learners, staff and clients; and have practice in and facility with problem solving and conflict resolution expertise. practice teaching/training adult learners; prior work practice in a medical education program; proven capability to manage projects. capability to work as a member of a team.
