The adjunct Director, Communications manages and supervises the everyday operations of communications and public relations programs in support of WGCU Membership and Development. Strategically plans, creates and manages the communications and public relations strategies that support Membership, Development, and help to build an audience for WGCU Public Media's television broadcast streams, radio and digital products.

Job Description
Typical tasks may include but are not limited to:
   » Participates in the strategic planning for assigned areas and assists the Director in developing and implementing the overall departmental strategic plan. supervises cohesive marketing and promotional strategies which support WGCU Public Media's fundraising initiatives and programs through on-air, online, publications and media relations.
   » Directs departmental activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of staff. Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate success of assigned area of responsibility.
   » Provides oversight of communications campaigns and special projects. Enforces brand identity for WGCU, PBS and NPR according to standards.
   » Supervises the day-to-day operations of assigned area including the supervision of departmental employees.
   » Provides guidance and direction to staff involved in department services and programs. Interviews, hires, trains, and evaluates staff to ensure adequate staffing within budget.
   » Participates in formulating and implementing policies and procedures.
   » Collaborates with team to ensure consistent donor and stewardship messaging, and optimal timing of promotional and fundraising activities, to ensure the broadest audience possible.
   » Writes and produces WGCU television, radio and digital spots to promote station fundraising events, retain and increase audience viewers and listeners, enhance membership practices and donations, extoll membership benefits, and encourage planned giving, among other station promotions.
   » Recommends ad frequency and placement for television, radio, and digital space and tracks effectiveness.
   » Facilitates the creation, production, and distribution of e-newsletters. May segment and provide the distribution via Constant Contact.
   » Fulfills trade commitments by facilitating design and copy for appropriate ad placement.
   » Employs social networking and new media efforts to introduce and deepen Membership and Development engagement, including providing oversight related to fundraising on all station social media sites.
   » Participates in the planning and administration of departmental and project activities.

Other tasks:
   » Facilitates the creation and production of promotional materials for Membership and Development including marketing materials, invitations, brochures, renewal and acquisition letters, annual reports and other publications in consultation with manager. Assist in proofreading publications layouts.
   » Other job-related tasks as assigned.
Additional Job Description
Required Appropriate qualifications:
   » Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
   » Four years of professional full-time practice in marketing, journalism, communications, digital design and graphics, fundraising, or other significant practice.
   » Any appropriate combination of significant education, practice, and/or certifications may be considered.
   » practice operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Appropriate qualifications:
   » Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an area of appropriate specialization.
   » Six years of professional full-time significant practice.
   » practice facilitating and creating promotional and marketing materials.
   » Proven graphic design and web design practice, including Word Press, Adobe Creative Suite.
   » practice in web or digital development.
   » practice working in television or radio in a higher education setting.
   » broad social media practice desired.
