Offer: Executive Director The FLORIDA Channel:WFSUJob description: Executive Director The FLORIDA Channel Listing description Executive Director The FLORIDA Channel Tallahassee, FL The FLORIDA Channel, a one of its kind 24/7 public affairs programming service, seeks a new Executive Director. With offices and studio located on the 9th floor of the state Capitol building in Tallahassee, FL, TFC produces programming covering all three branches of state government, and is Florida's primary source for live, unedited coverage of the Governor and Cabinet, the Legislature, and the Supreme Court. TFC programming is carried by PBS stations all over Florida as one of their digital sub-channels and delivered statewide by satellite to other program distributors. Live streaming of as many as (14) simultaneous events and archived content are also available online at thefloridachannel.org. TFC is funded by The Florida Legislature and is a department of WFSU Public Media and Florida State University. Programming includes gavel-to-gavel coverage of a wide variety of state proceedings, along with a wide variety of documentary and public affairs programs and segments covering issues of interest and importance to all Floridians. TFC's Executive Director establishes and maintains a high level of contact with offices of the Governor and their Cabinet, Speaker and Senate President, Legislators, and other state officials. In addition, the ED establishes, interprets, and implements all policy and standards that govern TFC operations; develops and manages staff and utilizes resources to carry out assignments in conformity with state contract /station/university/PBS/FCC policies and procedures and develops operational and programming goals and objectives for TFC, formulates policies and procedures to effectively achieve those goals and develops and executes annual budgets in consultation with the General Manager of WFSU Public Media. Applicant Requirements: Bachelor's degree and eight years of practice in a professional broadcast news environment - preferably television; or an Associate's degree with ten years of practice in a professional broadcast news environment - preferably television; or a combination of vocational/technical training and practice in a professional broadcast news environment - preferably television - equal to ten years. Management practice superviseing large multilevel teams. Demonstrated capability to apply the principles and practices to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives. capability to lead and make critical decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
