Purpose
The Director of Marketing and Communications will be a part of a fast-paced organization to help shape the future of public media in the Pacific Northwest. Cascade Public Media is an innovative and collaborative culture that reflects the creative storytelling and journalism we produce.
Scope
The Director of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for creating and executing brand-focused strategies and campaigns to position Cascade Public Media as a leader in non-profit journalism and public television entertainment and public affairs programming.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing and implementing integrated strategies that utilize the full scope of marketing tactics, including media relations, influencer outreach, partnerships, brand building, paid and organic audience acquisition, segmented conversion tactics, and creative approaches across broadcast, digital, print, social and in-person community engagement.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
   » Lead efforts to develop and execute CPM's marketing strategy and plan consistent with CPM's strategic goals.
   » Craft a cohesive, audience-facing narrative and campaigns that differentiate the KCTS 9 and Crosscut brands and grow CPM's function in the community. Showcase CPM's mission, create buzz and elevate its profile while ensuring brand consistency in creative development, positioning, and execution.
   » Lead the strategic planning and direct the execution of the day-to-day operations of the department.
   » Work with product owners and stakeholders across the organization to develop marketing campaigns and drive audience to key content initiatives, products, and events.
   » Direct internal teams, external agencies, and partners to propel brand and communications programs that activate, engage and retain audiences, and help drive membership.
   » Develop and implement an acquisition strategy to attract and retain a more diverse audience for CPM brands.
   » Determine the goals, requirements, expectations and scope of brand and audience development initiatives annually, quarterly and monthly.
   » Focus on data-driven tactics by analyzing research and audience insights to identify areas of growth and optimization. Comprehensively test and measure success/ROI of audience acquisition/retention strategies and tactics.
   » Lead and manage the Design, Creative Services, and Digital Marketing teams, budgets and contracts.
   » Direct PR and Communications strategy and work with CPM's agency of record on press announcements and press requests. Ensure agency Communications are in alignment with CPM's mission, vision and values.
   » Stay up to date on trends, explore media alternatives and make recommendations to optimize marketing strategy.
   » Other tasks, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
REQUIRED expertise/ABILITIES
   » Proven practice developing innovative brand marketing plans, campaigns, and creative materials across a range of products and practices. A proven track record of building and developing audiences organically and through paid marketing campaigns.
   » Strong analytical expertise, along with practice using insights and data to create strategy, analyze market opportunities and trends, and build strong brand storytelling.
   » Fluency in all aspects of digital marketing, including segmented audience targeting. Working knowledge of CRMs, coupled with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other email practice. Proficiency in superviseing teams that use Google Analytics, Excel/Google Sheets, Facebook Audience Insights, Crowdtangle, and Google AdWords.
   » Results-oriented, strategic thinker who consistently demonstrates leadership abilities and motivates through teamwork and collaboration. capability to galvanize and influence a variety of stakeholders across a matrixed organization, leading through inspiration and influence across diverse teams.
   » In depth knowledge, knowledge, and commitment of your audiences. Strong proficiency specifically on digital and streaming TV platform audience development.
   » Excellent communication expertise with practice making presentations to small and large audiences.
EDUCATION AND practice
   » Bachelor's Degree in broadcasting, journalism, communications, new media, business, or a related field or equivalent practice.
   » At least 5 years of practice directing and managing full-service marketing teams.
   » At least 10 years of practice in audience development or marketing, preferably in media, with proven practice executing integrated plans within a complex organization.
