Melville House is seeking Somebody with moxy to run our social media. Reporting to the Director of Digital Marketing, this position supervises the development, implementation, and management of all aspects of our social media, as well as creative participation in our online marketing and outreach campaigns, and the creation of assets for those campaigns.

As our company's internet presence also includes the expression of the company's position on industry topics (such as, you know, Amazon) and opinions on political topics (we have a lot of those) beyond our books, we're also looking for someone who follows the news, reads the trades, and is up to date.

Specific tasks include:

• Maintaining the company's social media presence, particularly but not exclusively on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok
• Creating and executing social media campaigns for individual titles
• Creating and executing social media campaigns to raise brand consciousness
• Creating assets for all such campaigns
• Working directly with authors to coordinate, help guide, and improve their own social media presence
• Managing the Melville House influencer program
• Analyzing and reporting data to evaluate the success of our campaigns and overall growth
• Assisting with website management

THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY LEVEL JOB. income commensurate with practice.

Basic Appropriate qualifications:

• At least 2-3 years practice working in marketing or social media-not necessarily in publishing. Booksellers are encouraged to apply
• Strong writing expertise
• Graphic design practice-fluency in Photoshop highly preferred
• The capability to juggle campaigns and handle a wide variety of books-fiction and nonfiction on a variety of topics-simultaneously
• Sang-froid when Information technology comes to working under pressure, and an capability to hit deadlines
• An capability to work with marketing, editorial, sales, and production colleagues in a deeply
collaborative environment
• A sense of humor
• A keen interest in independent publishing (as opposed to corporate publishing)

Preferred Appropriate qualifications:

• More than passing familiarity with our books
• Strong data management expertise
• Influencer management practice
• Bookstore practice
