Position Summary The TallWood DesignInstitute (FOR) is seeking a Technical Education Specialist. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Technical Education Specialist (TES) will be TDI's point person for the creation of continuing education courses aimed at industry/professional learners in the fields of architecture, engineering, construction and manufacturing. The incumbent will act as a project coordinator to ensure that work performed by subject matter experts, graphic designers, videographers, multimedia designers, animators, technical writers, e-learning specialists and other significant professionals is done on time and on budget and at acceptable levels of quality. The TES will supervise the review and regular updating of courses and organize course scheduling, registration and payment tracking, marketing and promotion.

Position tasks 25% Coordinates curriculum development activities for TDI professional development courses and certificate programs. Acts as a project manager to ensure that work performed by subject matter experts, graphic designers, videographers, multimedia designers, animators, technical writers, e-learning specialists and other significant professionals provide content and services on time and on budget and at acceptable levels of quality. Tracks budgets and timelines and maintains excellent communication with contractors and subject experts.
10% Coordinates and organizes meetings of external advisory committees and steering groups as required to ensure that program content addresses the professional development needs of target learners.
20% Assembles and assimilates text and multimedia-located content from various sources and providers and organizes Information technology in a format that can be efficiently transformed into complete courses by e-learning specialists.
10% Recruits and organizes instructors and speakers for TDI in-person seminars and events and sources required materials, equipment, transportation and food and beverage arrangements.
5% Organizes and manages course registration system and maintains accurate records of learner course completions.
10% Undertakes proof reading and editing of draft course materials and performs basic image and video editing as required.
10% Communicates with internal and external subject matter experts and carries out desk research and literature reviews to identify and source written and multimedia materials that can be adapted, cited or used with permission in professional education programs.
5% Assists with preparation of grant proposals to help fund the cost of curriculum/program development.
5% Assists with promotion and marketing of TDI professional development courses

Minimum/Required Qualifications
   » Bachelor's degree in a field related or significant to architecture, civil engineering, construction, wood technology, digital design and manufacturing, or a multimedia or education-related field such as web design, new media studies, communications, journalism, multimedia studies, or e-learning instructional design.
   » Excellent written and oral communication expertise
   » Demonstrated project management practice
   » Demonstrated interest in mass timber design and construction field
   » A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion.

   » Domain-specific expertise or industry practice in fields significant to the work of the TallWood Design Institute (wood science, architectural design, wood products manufacturing, structural engineering, construction management)
   » Master's degree in a field related or significant to architecture, civil engineering, construction, wood technology, digital design and manufacturing, or a multimedia or education specific field such as web design, new media studies, communications, journalism, multimedia studies, or e-learning instructional design.
   » practice developing media-rich e-learning courses
   » practice with Adobe Creative Suite or similar software to edit websites, images and videos
   » practice using Camtasia or similar software to create presentations and videos
   » practice presenting in-person educational content.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule Occasional travel may be required (5-10%) to meet with content contributors or collect photos or video footage.
