Job Summary/Basic Function: Job Summary: Reporting up to the Associate Director of Operations and Compliance, the Financial Aid Specialist Sr. is a personable, team player, with the capability to communicate complex financial information in an easy-to-understand manner for the Financial Aid Specialist Sr position #495070. The Associate Director is the team lead of various operational tasks for 3-4 staff members, keeping information current and managing everyday tasks. Benefits include health insurance and other benefits as an employee of the State of Texas. Tuition assistance is provided to employee, a spouse and/or eligible dependent children.

My Scholarships System
o Ensure qualifications of recipients and push offers
o Coordinate and present training sessions for deans, department chairs, and account managers
for the scholarship system
o Award and maintain General Academic Scholarships within scholarship system
o Follow up with students regarding post acceptance requirements
o Ensure Lamar University Foundation receives all post acceptance documents
o Assist/train LU employees with utilizing the system
o Assist students with login issues, navigating the system

Endowment awards
o Request endowment budgets from LU Foundation and Finance
o Update/maintain budgets in My Scholarships and Banner
o Ensure all endowment budgets are expended while all donor criteria and agreement terms are met
o Update and maintain ?Puzzle? (Endowments that fund generals)
o Work with departments regarding donor selection criteria

Third Party Scholarships
o Retrieve 3rd party scholarship documentation from Cashier Office
o Post and/or request adjustment of Financial Aid

Banner Uploads and API
o Download reports from My Scholarships that needs to be posted in RPPAWRD
o Navigate upload process into Banner
o Rectify errors from upload and API

Miscellaneous
o Request and/or run needed Argos reports (enrollment, grades, etc.)
o Post manual disbursements received from Departments (shared)
o Work Scholarship Office voicemails
o Assist with job tasks of Scholarship Coordinator or Scholarship Director in their absence
o Award, process, post Lamar University Scholarships
o Collaborate with Financial Aid in regard to over awards or adjustments

Minimum Appropriate qualifications: Minimum Qualifications (Education and practice):
Bachelor's Degree Required or equivalent work practice in higher education
Able to obtain and retain full access to NSLDS (National Student Loan Database System)
Proficient with computer software: Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook
Basic math and accounting expertise
Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal expertise
