Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Temporary Custodial Services Coordinator position for University Housing and Dining Services at Oregon State University (OSU).

University Housing and Dining Services recognizes the importance of learning both in and out of the classroom, and supports the concept of education as an individual as well as a community practice. Our primary focus is service to OSU students. We strive to provide our students, faculty, staff, and guests with safe, economical, on-campus living and dining options that are convenient and comfortable. We offer a variety of living and dining options in 15 residence halls, four houses, three dining centers, and a limited number of family apartments and houses. Our Department is an auxiliary enterprise which is funded solely by customers who use our services - we receive no State or tax dollars. We work to maintain the highest educational and service standards for our customers. This position will adhere to all OSU and UHDS policies and procedures.
Custodial services for UHDS provides a clean, healthy, and presentable environment in all of its facilities. Custodians are committed to the overall success and satisfaction of UHDS students, customers, clients and guests and demonstrate this commitment through the work that they perform.
This position coordinates and provides custodial support for a side of campus consisting of at least one dining center and multiple residence halls. This position is responsible to monitor building standards, assure staffing needs are met, and provide training when necessary.

Position tasks 60% GENERAL CLEANING
Cleans multiple spaces within UHDS facilities including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing toilets, sinks and showers, kitchens, kitchenettes, lounges, entry areas, laundry rooms, bike rooms, offices, walls and other surfaces, windows and mirrors. May also refill dispensers, dust/sweep, mop, strip, wax and buff floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets, pick up litter, shovel snow, etc. Performs cleaning along a route which can include emptying trash cans, cigarette urns, wastebaskets; washing outside windows; and collecting and bundling recyclable items.

15% FLOOR MAINTENANCE

Personally performs work and trains staff to maintain hard surface floors, extract carpet stains, provide periodic extraction as part of planned maintenance, and operate a variety of powered equipment (low and high speed buffers, carpet extraction machines, and powered floor scrubbers).

5% MONITORS BUILDING STANDARDS
Checks to see the area of campus they are assigned to has is being cleaned and maintained properly; performs minor repairs and/or reports building repair needs; may take corrective action or retrain custodians when work is substandard or may report substandard work to a higher authority in cases of contractual custodial or other work.

5% COORDINATES CUSTODIAL WORK
Schedules staff for upcoming weeks, assures staffing needs are met for assigned shift; calls for substitute staff in case of unplanned absences of regular custodial staff; trains new employees to do custodial work and to correctly operate equipment; assigns work to custodial staff on assigned shift; maintains safety standards.

5% INVENTORY

Keeps an inventory of supplies, furniture, equipment, and materials; coordinates supply needs of custodial staff and requisitions new supplies and materials; reports missing furniture or equipment.

5% REPAIRS
Changes incandescent and fluorescent lighting, cleans fixtures, clears clogged drains and toilets, changes batteries in automatic flush valves, performs minor maintenance of custodial equipment and building, changes belts or bags on vacuum cleaners, changes brushes and pads on floor buffers, tightens screws, and replaces doorknobs. Repairs tables, chairs, risers and podiums. Reports needed repairs for maintenance and safety problems.

5% MISCELLANEOUS

Moves furniture in lounges and common areas to meet proper configuration. Sets up conference rooms to meet configuration for a meeting. May drive equipment from one side of campus to another. Other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of practice in custodial services work.
Additional Required Qualifications Physical capability to execute work.

Effectively interact and communicate in a variety of situations.

Work independently with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule These positions work in various environments including but not limited to: residence hall, office/work environment, apartment housing or dining center. These positions interact with residents and customers on a everyday basis. Typical work shift is either M-F from 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, or M-F from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, 5 days per week which may include weekends.
