Description of Work

Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Tenured and Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate goals.
Teaching, Advising, Curriculum and Instructional Development - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, advising and consultation, directing student research, curriculum and instructional development, and grading student work.
Scholarly Research, Creative, and Other Professional Activities - All tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to participate in expanding the expertise base of her/his academic field by conducting research or engaging in other creative activities as appropriate to the faculty member's discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to research may include but are not limited to: research/creative activity that generates new expertise and/or synthesizes and/or integrates existing expertise, publication, an on-going agenda for research, scholarly, and creative activity, and are expected to seek extramural support for their work.
Service to University, the Public, and the Profession - All tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to engage in a program of service appropriate to their discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to service may include but are not limited to: service to the administration and governance of the University, public service, and service to the profession.

Essential tasks and Responsibilities Responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate/graduate university classes in required core courses that may include building technology courses, architectural design studios, and elective courses with an emphasis on innovative structural assemblies, material systems and/or integrated design. prosperous candidates will demonstrate a vigorous and innovative research trajectory with a potential for growth and be willing to advise graduate students. Particular interest will be given to candidates who engage in computational methods and advanced technologies such as robotics and/or fabrication as part of their teaching, design and/or research. This position will support the SoA's aspiration to be a leading-edge research institution in building technology and design integration with distinctive contributions in the areas of regenerative systems design, design computation and robotics, and emergent materials and applications. The prosperous candidate will collaborate with colleagues in SoA's state-of-the-art research, fabrication, and computation labs, and will have opportunities to enhance partnerships with engineering, computer science, and allied fields

Minimum practice/Education
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, expertise and practice An advanced degree in architecture, engineering, or related field (e.g., M.Arch, M.S., and/or
other equivalent degree) is required.

Particular interest will be given to candidates that have a
professional license (RA or PE) and/or a DDes/PhD in a significant field.

Evidence of excellence in emerging and peer-reviewed research, published design work and scholarship, design awards, research grants and/or design practice is required.

candidates should demonstrate the capability and/or potential to be an enthusiastic and effective teacher of design and building technology.
