The Division is composed of numerous Centers, Institutes, and agencies such as East Carolina Heart Institute and Eastern Area Health Education Center, the Colleges of Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, the Brody School of Medicine, the School of Dental Medicine, and the Laupus Health Science Library. In addition to the Academic and Administrative responsibilities of the division, the four professional schools provide clinical services all over eastern North Carolina in a variety of settings and venues. The School of Dental Medicine is composed of ten administrative offices and four academic departments. The Administrative units include the Offices of the Dean, Vice Dean, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Research, Innovation and Discovery, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, adjunct Dean for Extramural Clinical Practices, adjunct Dean for Dental Education and Informatics, adjunct Dean for Educational Support and Faculty Development, adjunct Dean for Academic Success and the Executive Director for Business and Financial Affairs. The four academic departments are Surgical Sciences, Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, General Dentistry and Foundational Sciences and Research. Included in the mission of the School of Dental Medicine is to educate dental care providers (both dental students and dental residents) and to address the oral health care needs of the underserved population of North Carolina. The School of Dental Medicine meets these missions by operating dental clinics that provide both educational practices for the dental students and residents and provides dental care to the residents of North Carolina. These clinics occur in both Ross Hall in Greenville, North Carolina, as well as Community Service Learning Centers located all over North Carolina. In order to operate these clinics, appropriate dental auxiliaries and clinical staff are needed. Job tasks This position provides comprehensive laboratory support for the clinics of the ECU School of Dental Medicine including fixed and removable prosthodontics, implant-supported prosthodontics, orthodontics, and TMD therapy. In addition, this position supervises one and possibly additional dental laboratory technicians to include hiring and periodic evaluations. This position is also responsible for providing in-lab and preclinical lab instruction and guidance to students, residents, and faculty and for tracking lab cases that may be sent to outside laboratories for completion. Quality-control monitoring of both internal and external lab cases is an important part of this position to minimize the number of remakes. Maintaining par-level inventory of the various Ross Hall clinical labs is part of the position's responsibilities. Consideration will be given to an appointment at .80 FTE or 1.00 FTE. If the selected candidate is hired at .80 FTE, the income and benefits offered will be reduced to reflect a part-time appointment. Minimum Education/practice High school diploma or equivalency and two years related work practice; or completion of a two year dental laboratory technology training program; or equivalent combination of training and practice.
