Regular/Temporary: Temporary If temporary, list duration: Three year renewable contract Type of Appointment: Temporary Contract Period: 9 month Employment Job Category: Adjunct Position?: Position Summary: The Department of Criminal Justice at Austin Peay State University invites applications for the position of full-time Instructor of Criminal Justice. This non-tenure-track, three year renewable, full-time faculty position entails approximately nine-months of full-time service with potential for summer teaching. The Department of Criminal Justice currently offers both a bachelor of science and a master's of science in criminal justice with an optional concentration in homeland security. The program enrolls over 400 students in both their undergraduate program and newly launched graduate program. The Department of Criminal Justice offers its courses through diverse delivery methods including face to face, online, and hybrid/blended formats and the prosperous candidate must be prepared to teach in all these formats. The prosperous candidate will contribute to and assist with the new graduate program. Courses may require teaching at the Clarksville campus or the Ft. Campbell Center. The Department of Criminal Justice is among the University's fastest growing. The position's responsibilities include teaching courses as assigned by the chair. Primary tasks and Job responsibilities: The prosperous candidate will: • Teach 4 or 5 courses (undergraduate and graduate level) per academic semester as assigned by the chair • Additional tasks may include supervision of internships and other tasks as assigned by the chair. • Faculty may teach during the summer semesters for additional compensation (subject to availcapability) expertise, expertise, and Abilities: .• We are particularly interested in candidates with a law background to teach various courses in the area of criminal law, criminal evidence procedure, homeland security law, terrorism and the law, and other areas of interest to the candidate. • Work practice inside the criminal justice institutions (law enforcement, courts, corrections). • An capability to teach courses on a wide variety of criminal justice topics. • practice teaching across a variety of delivery methods (online, hybrid, face to face, etc.) is desirable. Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications: • J.D. or Masters in Criminal Justice or closely-related field from an accredited institution. Other disciplines may be considered, but must be accompanied by practice or background in areas of criminal justice, law enforcement, corrections, or court administration. • A background search will be required of the prosperous applicant.
