Organizational Unit Overview The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a clinical science department within the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The primary functions of the department are teaching obstetrics and gynecology to medical students, resident physicians, post graduate students, nurses and other allied health professionals; providing clinical service to the region; and supporting research activities.

Job tasks This position works in the OBGYN clinics in Brody, and is responsible for supervising ultrasound technicians in the department and for performing ultrasounds in the clinic, Labor & Delivery, and the OR. This position is critical to patient care delivery and efficient clinical operations.

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/practice Associate's degree in medical sonography, cardio/vascular sonography, or related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and practice. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licenses. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation None.

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education prosperously completed two years of post-secondary education preferably in a radiologic/ultrasound technician program, six months of ultrasound training, and six months of practice. Prefer practice in Ob/Gyn, especially in a teaching setting or related work.

License or Certification required by the Department None.
