The Division is composed of numerous Centers, Institutes, and agencies such as East Carolina Heart Institute and Eastern Area Health Education Center, the Colleges of Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, the Brody School of Medicine, the School of Dental Medicine, and the Laupus Health Science Library. In addition to the Academic and Administrative responsibilities of the division, the four professional schools provide clinical services all over eastern North Carolina in a variety of settings and venues. The School of Dental Medicine is composed of ten administrative offices and four academic departments. The Administrative units include the Offices of the Dean, Vice Dean, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Research, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Associate Dean for Extramural Clinical Practices, adjunct Dean for Dental Education and Informatics, adjunct Dean for Educational Support and Faculty Development, adjunct Dean for Academic Success and the adjunct Dean for Business Operations and Financial Affairs. The four academic departments are Surgical Sciences, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, General Dentistry and Foundational Sciences. Included in the mission of the School of Dental Medicine is to educate dental care providers (both dental students and dental residents) and to address the oral health care needs of the underserved population of North Carolina. The School of Dental Medicine meets these missions by operating dental clinics that provide both educational practices for the dental students and residents and provides dental care to the residents of North Carolina. These clinics occur in both Ross Hall in Greenville, North Carolina, as well as Community Service Learning Centers located all over North Carolina. In order to operate these clinics, appropriate dental auxiliaries and clinical staff are needed. Job tasks The purpose of this position is to coordinate the implementation of the Hyde County Dental Project training grant between the ECU SoDM and the Hyde County Health Department. ECU has been funded to: Provide dental care to the people of Hyde County one day a month in coordination with the Hyde County Health Department in Swan Quarter, North Carolina. The person in this position will work closely with the School of Dental Medicine (SoDM) Associate Dean for Extramural Clinical Practices, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Advanced Education General Dentistry (AEGD) Resident Director along with the Hyde County Health Director to assure timely coordination and implementation of the project strategies with ECU SoDM offices to include Business and Finance, Clinical Affairs, Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), Radiology and materials management. To provide sustainable dental care in the future, this person will coordinate case management services and support development of strategies. Essential tasks and Job responsibilities: The following tasks are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other tasks may be required and assigned. ·Work with ECU SoDM Business and Finance to develop clear and detailed processes to register, appoint and bill patients for services. ·Create and maintain liaison with the Hyde County Health Department and Ocracoke FQHC with offices in Ocracoke and Engelhard. ·Prepare and distribute advertising by working with county POCs. ·Assist in setting clinic schedule and confirming dental professionals, residents, students and volunteer staff. ·Audit treatment records for completeness and collections. ·Provide care coordination, referral and follow-up as needed. ·Assist in coordinating requirements for the set-up of the clinics. ·Monitor billing for services performed by project staff. ·Arrange transportation of portable dental equipment to the community site. ·Maintain portable dental equipment located on manufacturer's periodic maintenance schedule. Minimum Education/practice High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office practice; or equivalent combination of training and practice. License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education · Bachelor's degree in health-related field, public health, community health education or health education preferred or an equivalent of education and practice. · practice in billing of patient appointments and communication with insurance companies. · practice with patient scheduling, registration and check-ins. · Current BLS training.
