Job detail
Weseek a resourceful, collaborative, and organized Head Electrician who will manage and supervise all aspects of the theatre's lighting equipment including, but not limited to, maintaining inventory, renting additional equipment, hanging and striking lighting plots for every show, and preparing paperwork for the installation of designs. The Head Electrician will supervise the electrics crew for all on site events and will be called upon to troubleshoot and ensure the smooth operation of every show. If Head Electrician also hasLighting Design practice, there is the possibility ofdesigninglighting for presented touring shows,special events, and in-houseproduced concerts.
BRT operates under a collective bargaining agreement with IASTE Local 8, representing the stagehands employed at the theatre.
Weekly hours vary widely but over the course of a year the Head Electrician can expect to work 1,750 - 2,000 hours per year (or an average of 34 - 38 hours per week). Additionally, there is a $5,000 signing bonus (50% paid after one month of work, 50% at conclusion of first year).
functionS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head Electrician performs the following tasks:
   » Maintains and provides designers with current equipment inventory.
   » Coordinates rentals with designers and Production Manager.
   » Prepares all necessary hang paperwork for installation of designs.
   » Schedules and supervises labor for work calls.
   » Programs lighting console during technical rehearsals.
   » Maintains and runs lighting for performances.
   » Estimates and manages budgets for departmental labor and materials.
   » Provides lighting for presented tours and special events.
practice AND QUALIFICATIONS
   » The desired practice and qualifications for this position includes:
   » Degree in production/design + 2 years practice, or 5 years of practice.
   » leadership abilities practice.
   » Outstanding communication expertise.
   » Strong organizational expertise.
   » Knowledge of theatrical wiring and dimmer load calculation.
   » knowledge of LED tape wiring and control.
   » knowledge of lighting networks utilizing DMX, sACN, and ArtNet.
   » Proficiency with Lightwright, Vectorworks, and ETC Eos programming (Ion console).
