ESSENTIAL tasks AND Job responsibilities:
In November of 2015, the Cambridge Early Childhood Task Force issued a set of recommendations in a report entitled "Starting Early: covering the Achievement and Opportunity Gaps in Cambridge." The overarching vision was to create a community-wide system of affordable, high quality early education and care that begins with prenatal care and extends through 3rd grade. The Education Coach is an integral member of the Program Quality Team. They will manage a caseload of center-located early childhood classroom educators and will engage their educators in knowledge classroom and program evaluation methods and tools and the data that Information technology generates for each specific classroom. The Education Coach utilizes that data to support educators in setting goals and implementing changes that lead to improved classroom and program quality. They will also be responsible for leading professional development as part of B3's quality improvement efforts. The Education Coach will serve as a leader and mentor to contract coaches and reports to the Program Quality Manager.
   » Along with the Program Quality Manager, serve as a representative of the Birth to 3rd Grade Partnership among community-located early childhood centers, family childcare educators, as well as other key partners.
   » Manage a caseload of classrooms within community-located early childhood programs; serving as the primary coach to early childhood educators in conformity with B3's coaching model.
   » Lead the development of a resource bank of early childhood content and materials to be shared across all school, community, and family childcare partners and source additional content and materials as needed.
   » Work collaboratively with the Birth to 3rd Grade Partnership's Professional Development Specialist to identify, promote, and provide professional development opportunities that support the early childhood community, and in particular, programs that are a part of B3's Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
   » Support the development of strategies and opportunities for shared curriculum, assessment, and school readiness goals between community-located early childhood programs and school-located programs.
   » Keep abreast of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education policies.
   » Serve as a key contributor in the planning and implementation of an annual Professional Development Week for all Cambridge providers.
   » Collect and analyze data to ensure the Birth to 3rd Grade Partnership's impact at the program level.
   » Serve as a liaison with community-located programs to promote collaborative work between the early childhood community and the city/schools.
   » Maintain a commitment to ensuring anti-racism, equity, and inclusion are incorporated into every aspect of the work.
   » Perform other tasks that may be assigned.

MINIMUM Requirements:
   » Minimum of 3 years of practice in an early childhood managery/mentoring/coaching function.
   » Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field required, Master's Degree preferred.
   » knowledge of the principles of coaching and reflective practice.
   » practice with early childhood practice, policy, and systems.
   » Knowledge of early childhood standards, curriculum, assessment, teaching and learning and professional development.
   » Demonstrated leadership abilities qualities, cultural competency, and interpersonal expertise necessary to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse groups.
   » Strong organizational expertise.
   » Strong presentation and facilitation expertise with demonstrated practice convening committees and workgroups.
   » Excellent verbal and written communication expertise.
   » Excellent technological expertise to create efficient systems of communication.
   » practice working in an urban setting and with diverse groups.
   » Knowledge of the Cambridge community is an asset.

WORK ENVIRONMENT : Standard office environment. Fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Some offices may be carpeted. Moderate noise level.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: capability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. capability to answer phones and maintain multiple files and capability to lift a minimum of at least 10 pounds. capability to travel all over the City of Cambridge to various meetings, etc.

RATE: $61,430 - $72,690 annually plus excellent benefits
