This includes provision of appropriate housing, husbandry, and behavioral management, preventive medicine and clinical care, technical and surgical research support, and ensuring compliance with multiple federal regulators and accreditation bodies. Facilities encompass over 70,000 square feet, and species include fish, amphibians, birds, and mammals. Job tasks These are part-time, 30 hour-per-week positions, .75 FTE. Responsible for operation and maintenance of equipment used to process and sanitize caging and cage accessories, including HEPA filtered bedding disposal units, mechanical rack washers, bottle fillers, bedding dispensers, bulk autoclaves, floor scrubbing machines, and other connected large industrial equipment. Ensure personnel safety when operating and servicing large industrial equipment such as rack washers and bulk autoclaves, and to ensure effective sanitation temperatures and appropriate remediation procedures when temperatures are not met. Maintaining and documenting detailed records of equipment performance and sanitation in conformity with animal care federal regulations and guidelines. Must work in compliance with institutional chemical, biological, and radiation safety offices as well as federal regulations and guidelines (OSHA). Responsible for proper assembly and staging of clean caging and support equipment, including sterilization of materials for barrier operations. Must follow practices ensuring biosecurity and biocontainment are not compromised, and is responsible for receiving and maintaining inventory of feed, bedding, supplies, and personal protective equipment, and restocking all over the facilities as well as requesting orders as needed for animal caging and supplies. Must ensure proper maintenance and sanitation of loading dock, hallways, procedure spaces, research support areas, and other tasks assigned by management.
