Organizational Unit Overview The Department of Family Medicine is one of eleven clinical departments at the Brody School of Medicine. The purpose of the department is to improve the health of the people of eastern North Carolina through leadership abilities in Family Medicine education, research and health care services. The Firetower Medical Office is a clinical practice site that is in the Clinical Services Division of the Family Medicine Department. The mission of our division is to provide quality comprehensive care to families of all ages. Our team approach puts the patient at the center of their own medical care. We work with our staff as well as all members of the patient's care team to ensure the best possible care for the patient. The Firetower Medical office is committed to the continuing education of the Medical Students at the Brody School of Medicine.

Job tasks The Department of Family Medicine - Firetower Medical Office is seeking a Medical adjunct to assist with the flow of clinic patients. Responsibilities of this position include performing patient workups, assisting health care providers with clinical procedures, administering medications, and performing basic laboratory tests. A candidate with practice in primary care and/or medical office clinical practice (including expertise of vital sign measurements, injection protocols, pulmonary function tests, and EKG testing) is highly desirable.

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/practice Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to execute the work. Requires certification through the North Carolina Board of Nursing, or certification through the American Association of Medical adjuncts (AAMA); or, requires prosperous completion of the requirements from an accredited medical assisting program that permit eligibility to sit for a national certification exam.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation Certification through the American Association of Medical adjuncts (AAMA). If not already certified, please note that Certified Medical adjunct (CMA) certification through the American Association of Medical adjuncts must be obtained within 6 months from your start date for continued employment.

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education Prior medical office practice in clinical tasks highly desirable.
