Position Summary The College of Engineering is seeking a adjunct Dean for Curriculum & Assessment . This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The adjunct Dean for Curriculum and Assessment (ADCA) is a valued and integral member of the College of Engineering's (CoE's) Undergraduate Programs. this function reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs in the College of Engineering and is responsible for
(1) leadership abilities in curriculum changes and approvals,
(2) course scheduling and optimization, and
(3) assessment leading toward the prosperous reaccreditation of CoE's programs.

The CoE is the largest college at Oregon State University, with over a third of the University's student population. Information technology is the 10th largest undergraduate engineering program in the nation, is 1st in the number of computer science bachelor's degrees awarded, and 2nd in the percentage of women faculty among highly research active universities. At present CoE's undergraduate enrollment comprises approximately 8,000 students and is expected to grow to 9,500 students by 2023. Approximately 1,800 unique courses are offered under a variety of modalities and across three campuses (Corvallis, Cascades, and Ecampus) within CoE each academic year. These courses support the College and University's mission of teaching, research, and outreach and engagement. With these courses, CoE offers a total of 19 unique degrees and options for its undergraduate students. At present CoE has 13 accredited programs and is pursuing the initial accreditation of an additional program in 2023 through ABET. Additionally, CoE's Construction Engineering Management program is accredited through the ACCE. These accomplishments significantly contribute toward the College's Educational Goals as defined within the College's strategic plan.

A critical member of CoE Undergraduate Programs, the adjunct Dean for Curriculum and Assessment will:
   » Work with units and programs to strategize, organize, and implement curricular changes that align with best-practices, while taking into consideration programs' individual strengths and identity, accreditation and compliance requirements, educational best-practices, and resource optimization characteristics. The ADCA will provide oversight and facilitate operations for the Interdisciplinary Curriculum Committee, responsible for representing Engineering Science courses and the OSU-Cascade's campus curricula (in Bend), and will also supervise the College of Engineering Curriculum Committee responsible for curriculum and course compliance. ·
   » Lead the scheduling strategy of all unique, respective course sections with a team of College schedulers and the School Heads to minimize scheduling conflicts for students, optimize teaching resources, and manage course size populations through forecasting of instructional needs within each program.
   » Lead the assessment strategy and implementation for CoE's programs. Aligning best-practices for assessment, along with stakeholder needs at both the University and Program levels while both optimizing resource use and ensuring efficient and effective integration of teaching practices and the evaluation of results. The ADCA is critical in the continued successes of CoE as they relate to curriculum, assessment, accreditation and our community values. An interested candidate must commit to promoting and enhancing equity and diversity, and to inclusive excellence, as demonstrated by proactive initiatives, efforts, collaborations, and/or educational practices.
Position tasks Active support and advancement of University and College diversity, community, equity and inclusivity are fundamentally embedded into all of the adjunct Dean for Curriculum and Assessment activities, both as a responsibility and an expectation.

40% - Direct Assessment, Accreditation, and Evaluation Processes:
   » Work with programs within CoE to evaluate and prioritize assessment and evaluation activities in response to College information supporting accreditation requirements.
   » Collaborate with College leadership abilities to create surveys, develop administration procedures, and supervise a schedule for collection and reporting of information needed to support the various accreditations, assessments, and initiatives in the College.
   » Schedule and collect data needed to assess alumni, student-, preceptor- and employer-related results.
   » Investigate College data for trends that translate to practical implications (e.g., barriers in degree programs).
   » Lead CoE accreditation summary reporting to support effective program evaluation, planning and improvement; in collaboration with College program directors, and faculty.
   » Provide leadership abilities for the assessment process in all academic undergraduate programs of the College as mandated by accrediting bodies (e.g., student measures, program competencies, faculty productivity).
   » Serve as the central referent and contact person for all assessment and accreditation activities in the College.
   » Advise and train faculty and staff on the interpretation of assessment policies and procedures established by Oregon State University and accrediting agencies, and implementation of assessment activities to be in compliance with accreditation requirements and standards.
   » Provide support to faculty in writing annual assessment reports submitted to the Office of Academic Programs and Assessment (undergraduate programs) and the Graduate School (graduate programs).
30% - leadership abilities of Curriculum:
   » Assemble annual membership of the CoE Curriculum Committee and Interdisciplinary Curriculum Committee to be inclusive of all programs and campuses that CoE extends its offerings.
   » Develop and maintain a clear and articulate committee charge for the CoE Curriculum Committee and Interdisciplinary Curriculum Committee.
   » Lead coordination of the Interdisciplinary Curriculum Committee within CoE as an ex-officio member to review, revise, and propose changes to existing and new Engineering Science (ENGR) courses.
   » Lead the coordination of the College of Engineering Curriculum Committee as an ex-officio member to provide curricular and course compliance oversight as a part of the University's proposal and change-control process.
   » Review and work with undergraduate programs to recommend appropriate changes in course pre-requisite to remove unnecessary barriers for students that do not align with student learning results.
   » Lead the submission of new and revised curricular and course changes as appropriate across the College while working with program constituents and steward these changes through the curriculum proposal process within OSU.
   » Lead strategic identification of opportunities for curricular improvements as they relate to minimizing institutional barriers toward students' pathways toward graduation. 25% - leadership abilities of Course Scheduling Strategy:
   » Lead strategy in optimizing scheduling while considering instructional resources within each program, unit, and the college.
   » Monitor course instructional figures of merit such as course sizes, frequency taught, student credit hours.
   » Monitor program cohort size and inform units to provide guidance on recommended quantities of course section and their respective sizes.
   » Supervise scheduling staff. 5% - Service:
   » Participate in continuing training and development in assessment of undergraduate learning and accreditation.
   » Actively participation in OSU Academic Program and Assessment meetings to support university assessment and accreditation efforts.
   » Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Minimum/Required Qualifications
