Position Overview The Director of Strategic Partnerships (DSP) is a dynamic, detail-oriented, highly organized, eloquent and persuasive individual. The incumbent is a strategic thinker and planner with strong leadership abilities, managerial and communications expertise. Reporting directly to the President and Chief Executive agent (CEO), the Director of Strategic Partnerships supports the Department of Development in the research, preparation and submission of all proposals and grant applications. The incumbent collaborates with program staff to develop project budgets and identify specific objectives, as well as work plans for potential grant-funded projects. Management of grants budgets, schedules and strategies in full partnership with the Chief Revenue agent (CRO) is crucial to the function. The responsibility of the DSP is to support the CEO's vision; sustaining and growing current relationships, while identifying and developing new ones, to propel the mission of the organization forward. Additionally, the DSP supervises the administration and logistics of assigned projects, ensuring that goals and objectives are met. The DSP will supervise station funding within the foundation, corporate and government arenas. The DSP is responsible for maintaining and broadening community relations, informing key stakeholders in the foundation, government and corporate arenas of WBGO's strategic goals. The incumbent will work closely with the CEO/leadership abilities Team to define short- and-long-term goals for the station, then connect with internal and external stakeholders to expand on those company visions. The DSP also has an outreach function and often fulfills a public affairs function in addition to administrative responsibilities. function and Responsibilities • Create new, as well as deepen and broaden existing partnerships, with grantmaking foundations, philanthropic institutions, and mission-consonant organizations. • Work with leadership abilities to define short- and long-term strategies. • Create external partnerships at the local and national levels to fund and bring projects to life. • Manage the prospecting lifecycle for new partnerships and expansions, including solicitation, partner stewardship and long-term relationship engagement & management. • Develop and implement individual plans and strategies for developing key partnerships and initiatives around programmatic priorities, mobilizing necessary internal and external resources to ensure all partnerships are effectively executed and partners' needs are fully met. • Drive the full lifecycle of strategic relationships, from conception through to implementation and performance management. • Establish and maintain an organized system for tracking continuing and upcoming grant projects and prospects • Assemble grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets and presentations • Establish and maintain current information, contacts and relationships with foundation representatives and program agents • Write clear, persuasive and concise grant proposals (for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and that deadlines are met • Maintain the grant calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines and reports (other reporting and management documentation as requirements) • Work with the Chief Revenue agent and/or Chief Financial agent to conduct prospect research and prepare corresponding reports • Develop and administer departmental budget • Prioritize projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental materials required for proposals • Interface with programs to provide current data and statistics for grant content • Maintain and provide timely reporting data for all grants (i.e., progress reports, year-end financial reporting, data collection from programs and special reports as required) • Proofread funding documents Knowledge, expertise and Abilities • 7-10 years of significant career practice, • Maintains and grows an existing network of contacts • Possesses exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal/networking communications expertise at the highest levels • Holds a deep knowledge of the public and/or community media landscape, as well as pertinent knowledge in an arts non-profit setting. • Extraordinary communicator who is prepared to engage every audience with clear, concise, and persuasive materials. Skilled at composing content at each stage of a partnership building process. • Effectively creates and cultivates leads that translate into qualified opportunities, building high-level relationships in order to expand and deepen WBGO's partnerships. • Demonstrated and proven success in networking with community leaders. • capability to create demand and sustain relationships, motivating individuals up, down and across an organization to take action. Experience and Education* • Bachelor's degree in significant field or equivalent practice in Nonprofit Management and/or Administration • Exceptional and demonstrable expertise in the areas of interpersonal and organizational communications, as well as time management. • Excellence in grant writing is a primary competency. • practice working in Public Media COVID-19 Status Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this function is currently operating remotely and will continue as such (at least) through January 2022. However, this position is a part of the Newark NJ staff and is not full-time, permanent remote. The incumbent may be expected to work from the Newark office when Information technology is safe to do so.
