About the Job

Capital Impact Partners seeks an Investment agent/Director to become an integral part of its Impact Investment Group that is focused on making investments that generate equitable economic prosperity and promote community health all over the country. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community and economic development, impact investing, and social justice. The position will report to the Head of Investments. The Director will work with senior members of the team to launch new impact investing funds across multiple investment themes, while also sourcing and executing impact investments and managing portfolio companies and assist reporting to stakeholders. The Director will work closely with portfolio companies across the country to generate measurable impact and rationalized investment returns.
This position reports to the Head of Investments and can be located in the Arlington, VA, California offices or Texas triangle (Dallas, Austin, Houston or Atlanta).
Essential Responsibilities
   » Proactively identifying potential investment opportunities using own network and expertise base
   » Screening new investment opportunities to assess their fit with the fund's mandate
   » Analyzing the competitive landscape for potential investments
   » Working with and superviseing junior-level professionals on the team
   » Supporting and leading the due diligence process with potential investments
   » Working on financial models to assess cash requirements for key milestones within potential investments and current portfolio companies
   » Tracking progress of portfolio companies post investment
   » Supporting executives in their board responsibilities and, over time, assuming select board responsibilities
   » Working on investment updates and valuations for quarterly and annual reports
   » Coordinating due diligence processes
   » Supporting and leading negotiation of terms for new investments
   » Contributing to expertise management and translation of project and programmatic data
   » Tracking fund deal flow and coordinating reports and summaries for weekly team meetings
   » Compiling impact data for portfolio companies
   » Providing organizational support as needed

Qualifications

Professional expertise, Education and practice
   » Completion of a Bachelor's degree in a significant field, plus a graduate degree or significant level of practice
   » 5+ years of work practice in a position providing broad exposure to investing into companies
   » practice developing financial models and conducting sensitivity analysis
   » Investment practice in the health, food, co-op or social entrepreneurship sectors
   » Demonstrated practice in preparing and negotiating complex transactions and balancing the programmatic needs of community located organizations with sound underwriting judgment and risk mitigation
   » Familiarity with one or more of Capital Impact's five core geographies
   » capability to generate deal flow using own contacts and practice
   » Demonstrated interest in and practice in impact investing
   » Exposure to boards of directors as a member or observer
   » practice leading the due diligence process for potential investments
   » capability to interact with bankers, investors and others
   » Highly skilled in writing investment summaries, investment memos, preparing
   » PowerPoint presentations and related word-processing and spreadsheet expertise
   » Comfort working in an environment with little supervision
   » Demonstrated capability to be proactive and organized in working independently, as well as in interacting with team members and external stakeholders (investors, companies, co-investors, etc.)
   » Strong communication and presentation expertise
   » Strong attention to detail, analytical, critical thinking and organization expertise
   » Strong written and verbal communication expertise
   » Demonstrated capability to take initiative and leverage expertise and resources to deal with problems
   » practice prioritizing and managing multiple projects, assignments and meeting tight deadlines
   » Advanced user of Excel, Word, Power Point and Google Suite. practice with
   » Salesforce is a plus
   » capability to travel up to 20% of the time (once permitted)
