Organizational Unit Overview East Carolina University (http://www.ecu.edu) is a doctoral granting university, and a member of the 17-campus University of North Carolina System. The University enrolls approximately 29,000 students, with over 5,500 pursuing graduate and professional degrees. ECU is located in Greenville, North Carolina (pop. 94,822), which lies approximately 80 miles east of Raleigh and a short distance from the Atlantic coast. The Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences is home to 16 academic departments. Harriot College faculty are well recognized on campus, nationally, and internationally for their efforts in research, teaching, and service, as evidenced by publications in leading journals and by the numerous awards and professional appointments that they have received. Harriot College departments offer 25 bachelor's degrees, 20 master's degrees, and several doctoral degree programs.

The Department of Psychology (psychology.ecu.edu) has 30 full-time faculty members, over 800 undergraduate majors, master's concentrations in School and Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and a doctoral program in Health Psychology. The Health Psychology program is composed of three separate training concentrations - Clinical Health Psychology, Occupational Health Psychology, and Pediatric School Psychology. The Clinical Health Psychology concentration was recently reaccredited by the American Psychological Association for 10 years. The Department also participates in a multidisciplinary BA/BS program in Neuroscience and offers a graduate certificate in Quantitative Methods for the Social and Behavioral Sciences. Psychology faculty routinely receive College- and University-level teaching awards and are recognized nationally and internationally for their scholarship and professional leadership abilities. Faculty have recently received grants funded from Health Resource Service Administration, Institute of Education Sciences, National Cancer Institute, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, and National Science Foundation. The Clinical Health Psychology concentration is a current and past recipient of a Health Resource Service Administration Graduate Psychology Education training grant. Finally, faculty routinely collaborate with colleagues all over the Schools and Colleges of ECU and have established connections with the Department of Criminal Justice, the School of Dental Medicine, the College of Education, and various departments in the Brody School of Medicine, including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, and Cardiology.

Job tasks The Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track adjunct Professor with a specialization in Clinical Health Psychology, beginning August 2022. The prosperous applicant will develop an active research program with high potential to secure extramural funding, contribute to the doctoral concentration in Clinical Health Psychology, especially by mentoring graduate students, and teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses.

The teaching responsibilities for this position may include undergraduate courses such as introduction to psychology, abnormal psychology, psychological testing, statistics, and research methods as well as graduate courses in assessment, therapy, clinical practica, statistics, research methods, and candidate's health-related specialty.

This position is contingent upon funding.

Minimum Education/practice A PhD degree or equivalent from an APA-accredited Clinical Psychology program or equivalent is required; however, candidates who have not yet had their degree conferred (i.e., ABD) may be considered. Candidates with Ph.D. conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the probationary rank of adjunct Professor. ABD candidates will also be initially appointed with the probationary term rank of adjunct Professor and must have the terminal degree conferred prior to first reappointment. Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation none

Preferred practice, Skills, Training/Education The ideal candidate will have an established research program in an area of clinical health psychology, be a productive research scholar with high potential to attract extramural funding, be licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in North Carolina, and be an excellent teacher and mentor to a diverse student population at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference will also be given to candidates with strong skills in quantitative methods and whose teaching interests include statistics and/or research methods.
