Job Summary/Basic Function: The Texas State University System (TSUS) invites applications for an Auditor position within the Office of Internal Audit, Lamar Components, to primarily serve Lamar University, Lamar Institute of Technology, Lamar State College-Orange, and Lamar State College-Port Arthur. These campuses are member institutions of the Texas State University System, the oldest multi-campus system in Texas. The position reports to the Director, Office of Internal Audit, Lamar Components, which in turn reports to the Chief Audit Executive of the TSUS. Consideration will be given for a possible telecommuting arrangement for a candidate not residing in the area of the Lamar Components but residing in Texas depending upon the level of auditing practice and practice with a telecommuting environment. JOB DESCRIPTION/Job responsibilities:
· Plans audits (operational, financial, compliance, program effectiveness, economy/efficiency, and investigative), performs fieldwork, appraises systems of internal control, identifies risks, develops recommendations to mitigate risks, prepares organized, accurate and competent work papers that clearly document and support conclusions regarding audit objectives, and facilitates the communication of audit results through preparing written draft reports and making oral presentations to management.
· Performs special projects and consulting activities as needed.
· Engages in frequent contact with other Office of Internal Audit personnel, University and TSUS personnel, and personnel at other state agencies via phone and computer.
· Performs other related tasks as assigned.
· Working Conditions: Normal office environment; occasional daytime travel between office and campuses; less than five percent (5%) overnight travel (training, conferences, etc.). If a telecommuting arrangement is established, travel to the Lamar components for one week at a time is expected quarterly with more frequent travel if deemed necessary.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications: Appropriate qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting or related financial discipline with a minimum of one (1) year of practice in auditing, business process analysis, compliance, risk analysis and assurance services.
Or
· Bachelor's degree in another field with three (3) years of practice in auditing, business process analysis, compliance, risk analysis and assurance services, or similar area may be substituted.
Or

· Bachelor's degree in accounting or related financial discipline with a specialization designation in internal audit.

Additional Desired Appropriate qualifications:
· Advanced degree in accounting, information systems, or related disciplines.
· Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
· Five (5) years prosperous auditing practice or related industry practice.

OTHER SPECIFICATIONS:
Required practice and expertise:
· Strong analytical, organizational, written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship building expertise.
· Versed in the application of professional auditing standards.
· Proven capability to work with people.
· Strong project management expertise.
· practice and proven capability to utilize standard Microsoft desktop productivity applications in the performance of job tasks.
· Proven capability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Working knowledge of fundamental information technology control concepts.
· Solid employment and/or academic performance history.

Desired practice:
· Higher education audit practice.
· Familiarity and practice in using TeamMate or similar electronic work paper system.
· Information Technology (IT) audit practice.
· Good working knowledge of Texas statutory requirements applicable to public universities.
· practice with Banner ERP.

income AND advantages:
Maximum income for the position is $98,000 and is commensurate with the prosperous applicant's practice and qualifications. Customary and usual state employee benefits apply, including but not necessarily limited to retirement (TRS), health insurance (ERS), holidays, annual and sick leave.
