Job Opportunity: Music Director - Classical KC:91.9 Classical KCJob description: Music Director - Classical KC Listing description The Opportunity91.9 Classical KC, Kansas City's 24/7 classical music broadcast and digital service, has an amazing opportunity to join and help design the future of a newly-created station. We seek an energetic, creative person to join our team as our Music Director. This position serves a dual function: as an announcer for classical music as well the lead creative voice on Classical KC's broadcast side. In this position, you would supervise music selection across platforms, help define the station's sound to be inclusive and expand the canon of classical music, curate the station's library, host an on-air shift, and serve a public-facing function at Kansas City classical music events.Classical KC seeks individuals who are able to shed traditional classical music delivery stereotypes and invite an audience of diverse ages and cultural backgrounds to participate in this rich art form using best practices of public radio storytelling and a tone that energizes, excites and enriches the listener. This position reports to the Director of Classical KC. Characteristic tasks» Assists in crafting the internal philosophy for programming/presenting music, developing innovative strategies for music discovery» Helps create and modify playlists » Curates library using MusicMaster; auditions new releases for inclusion » Hosts on-air shift » Tracks DEI programming » Cultivates relationships with regional music/arts organizations and participates in community outreach » Helps assess and select programming from national providers » Participates in campaigns to increase audience across platforms » Serves as an on-air host during concert broadcasts » Assists in planning and execution of membership drives » Works with Director of Classical to set individual goals, train and regularly assess performance of on-air staff » Prepares quarterly Sound Exchange report, FCC issues report, and other reports as needed » Performs other tasks as assigned Minimum QualificationsA Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and practice, and at least 3 years of practice from which comparable expertise and expertise can be acquired are necessary.Preferred QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have the following:» At least 5 years of practice as a classical music host/music director or related practice. » broad expertise of classical music » Demonstrated radio broadcast announcing capability and basic radio operation expertise are required. » Strong familiarity with ENCO DAD (or equivalent automation software) and MusicMaster (or similar scheduling software) Organization: 91.9 Classical KC Job Job location: Kansas City, MO United States Job Job Category: Production/Programming Deadline: Sunday, January 9, 2022 Employment Type: Full time Send Application Materials To: Classical KC is an independent community service of the University of Missouri-Kansas City.Please apply online at UMKC's website:https://info.umkc.edu/hr/careers/ Select ?Staff Positions,? then ?View Jobs,? then ?View All Jobs.?
