We are seeking for a quick-thinking and dedicated project manager who is self-sufficient, performs well in a fast-paced environment, and works in the house efficiently and effectively. This position reports directly to our Editor-in-Chief and is responsible for managing the book-writing process for many of our most important authors and publishers.
The project manager's primary responsibilities will include pitching and staffing projects, sending invoices and obtaining funds from clients, resolving any issues between clients and staff, superviseing projects and ensuring that the senior editor, writer, and client are working well together, maintaining accurate records in appropriate systems, approving freelancers' invoices for monthly payroll, and other related tasks.
As a member of the management team, the project manager will be a key contributor to the continuing development of the company, including offering insight into potential growth opportunities and advising on how to improve our services and internal processes.
We work often with clients who are high-profile, high-net-worth, or innovators in their respective industries and professions. Information technology is very important that the candidate feels comfortable working with such clients and is able to do so with the utmost professionalism and attention to detail.
Responsibilities -Coordinate book-writing and editing teams -Manage the manuscript-writing process from initial project staffing through publication -Create, update, and maintain project timelines, holding all parties accountable -Correspond with clients via email and phone in a professional manner to answer questions, solve problems, and alleviate concerns all over the project -Arrange and schedule meetings between clients and staff -Identify and resolve issues with clients and staff in a timely manner -Maintain broad knowledge and knowledge of writing, editing, and publishing trends -Draft contracts and proposals from templates -Maintain up-to-date records of all projects in the appropriate systems -Approve contractor invoices when appropriate -Perform other related tasks as necessary
Qualifications and Requirements -Bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) -Must have 3+ years practice at a similar position within the publishing industry -Strong knowledge and consciousness of the general marketplace and significant market segments within the publishing industry -Excellent critical reading and editorial expertise -broad knowledge of the publishing process and the publishing industry -A quiet home office where calls (audio and video) can be attended without background noise or interruptions -Ideally located within the Greater NYC Area, though we will seriously consider any highly qualified clients
