Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Accountant 1 position at OSU-Cascades. This position will be located in Bend, OR.

The Accountant will be a key contributor to financial planning and analysis for Finance and Administration at OSU-Cascades in Bend, OR. This department facilitates effective and efficient business services with a focus on excellent customer practice for the entire OSU-Cascades campus.

OSU-Cascades is growing in size and complexity in response to exciting opportunities to serve our students and the community. The Accountant will have the opportunity to execute fiscal functions for a wide variety of business units and fund types. The Accountant will also be instrumental in designing and providing services that proactively support our customers with timely, transparent, and creative solutions.

Position tasks 50% Accounting

   » Review and reconcile revenues and expenditures for Education and General, Auxiliary, Designated Operations, and Foundation funds; ensure appropriate use of funds and accounts
   » Analyze and interpret all accounting activities for compliance with policies, rules and regulations as set forth by the State of Oregon, and Oregon State University.
   » Monitor fund balances; ensure transactions are aligned with budgeted revenues and expenses
   » Identify and respond to discrepancies and correct errors
   » Prepare journal vouchers, payroll redistributions, and adjusting entries
   » Administer accounts receivable functions including working with business units to identify and calculate billings, preparing and distributing invoices, reconciling payments, and preparing reports
   » Enter charges on student accounts
   » Administer accounting for student and Conference Services meal plans
   » Prepare request forms to set up accounting codes
   » Document processes
   » Track balances in special use accounts

40% Reporting

   » Prepare revenue and expense reports; recommend process and reporting improvements
   » Provide balances and reports to unit leaders and budget managers
   » Track key performance indicators; design and prepare metrics reports
   » Prepare ad hoc reports as requested by manager
10% Other tasks as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with CPA or PA certificate;
OR
Bachelor's degree with 30 quarter (20 semester) hours of college-level Accounting;
OR
30 quarter (20 semester) hours of Accounting courses and three years of Accounting practice*
*Accounting practice must include at least 3 of the following:
Preparing transactions to be recorded in records of original entry;
Preparing journal entries, posting from journals to general ledger, or preparing original general ledger entries;
Summarizing data from a ledger to a trial balance;
Closing accounts at the end of an accounting period;
Applying PC spreadsheet, database, and word processing software; Processing data using a computer.
