San Diego Zoo Wildlife AllianceConstruction Project manager - San Diego Zoo Safari ParkHOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSIONThe Construction Project manager supports San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance's mission and vision of saving species worldwide by uniting our skills in wildlife care and conservation science with our dedication to inspiring passion for nature and the leading the fight against extinction. The Construction Project manager is responsible for superviseing constructions projects in support of facilities renewal at San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and coordinating employees and contractors on other projects as assigned. This position reports to the Director of Facilities. WHAT YOU WILL DO » Prepare project plans, develop and coordinate project schedules and ensure that proposal request specifications are met. » supervise contractors in the construction and remodeling of facilities at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. » Manage project bid process including obtaining contract proposals and negotiating contracts. » Exercise fiscal responsibility by monitoring assigned budgets, estimate project costs and participate in project concept and budget development. » Conduct safety inspections of project sites and ensure safety standards are being met. » Effectively plan and execute projects with a wide variety of complexity from initiation through closeout, including project schedule and cost status. » Ensure deliverables are met on-time, within budget, and within scope. JOB practice » 5 years of practice in the construction industry Or » 2 years of practice in construction in a Zoo/Theme Park Setting » practice in a zoological setting is desirable. » practice with agency submittals, permitting, and code compliance preferred. EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS » Coursework in civil engineering; structural engineering, or a related field is desirable. » Architectural training or coursework is desirable. » California Driver License SKILLS AND expertise expertise of: » managery and project coordination. » Building trades, tools, equipment, and materials. » Building and safety regulations. » MS Office - proficient. capability to: » Plan and estimate construction work. » Prepare bid requests and purchase requisitions. » Understand union contacts regarding labor use restrictions. » Use word processing and spreadsheet systems. » Work effectively with others. » Communicate effectively with stakeholders, vendors, projects team and internal departments. » Develop vendor and stakeholder relationships, evaluate contractor and consultant performance. » capability to review construction documents and plans. » capability to coordinate cross-functional collaboration and identify project sponsors.
