Job Opportunity: Statehouse Reporter:West Virginia Public BroadcastingJob description: Statehouse Reporter Listing description The newsroom of West Virginia Public Broadcasting is hiring a full-timeradio and televisionstatehouseand politicalreporterlocated in our Charleston, West Virginia office. Thisreporterwill haveand developstrong sources in state government,as well as in politics -- both state and nationally -- and willhave an enterprising work ethic along withbroad knowledge of issues across the political spectrum including previous coverage of a state legislature. tasks:Ourstatehousereporterwill cover the state legislature from Charleston and act as a leadreporterand host on our weeklytelevision/radio simulcastThe Legislature Today, which is produced in tandem with the legislative sessions at thestatehouse.Working under the direction of the news director and in collaboration with our otherreporters, thestatehousereporterwill be responsible for everyday coverage and news featureswhen sessions are in progress,radio and webstatehousestories all over the year,and in election years, lead the team's live coverage of returns on election night.Thestatehousereporterwill also cover groups, organizations and issues related to state governance and other breaking and spot news, as needed. practice producing a everyday newscast is also welcomed as is an knowledge of the unique function of public media. A bachelor's degree in a related discipline is preferred. Thisjobis not remote and headquartered in our Charleston offices.
