Primary Function of Organizational Unit The Department of Human Development and Family Science offers seven academic programs and a variety of practices for students. Our academic programs include a BS in Birth through Kindergarten Teacher Education, BS in Family and Community Services, BS in Family and Consumer Sciences, MAEd in Birth-Kindergarten Education, MS in Human Development and Family Science, MS in Marriage and Family Therapy and a PhD in Medical Family Therapy. Undergraduate Students interested in Child Life can major in Family and Community Services with a concentration in Child Development. Graduate students interested in Child Life should apply for our MS in Human Development and Family Science. Our departmental office is located in 112A RW Rivers Building and can be reached at 252-328-4273 or by filling out the ?Contact HDFS? form.

Job tasks Support tasks for the chairperson that includes; office management, personnel management, budget oversight and management, processing faculty travel requests, submitting requests for reimbursements, maintaining minutes of faculty meetings, managing department e-mail and phone calls, and other tasks related to the functioning of the HDFS department.

Minimum Education/practice High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to execute the work.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education practice with Excel preferred.
