The Opportunity

KCUR 89.3, Kansas City's NPR affiliate, is seeking an practiced leader to supervise the day-to-day operations of the station and its sister station, Classical 91.9 (CKC). The Director ofOperations woulddirect, administer, and managethe overall operations of the station in conformity with policies, goals, and objectives established by the General Manager.
The Director supervises the following: facilities, capital projects, resource allocation, vendors,accounting, businessoperations,information systems, and regulatory compliance and reporting.This person works closely with the General Manager and KCUR leadership abilitiesin the development and implementation of strategic plans and organizational efficiencies, policies, and goals.
tasks to include but are not limited to:
   » supervisethe effective and efficient execution of operational, administrative, and accounting functions to advance the mission, vision, values, strategies, and goals of the organization.
   » Provide a healthy, safe, and creative working environment for all staff and contractors. Schedule and prioritize work to ensure the highest quality and best use of resources.
   » Day-to-day management of the facilities and directly supervises the following functional areas: Operations, IT, Office Administration, and Accounting.
   » Work closely with UMKC Human Resources, and follows university polices and procedures
   » Administerall policies, rules, regulations, and reporting requirements of KCUR andCKC,the Corporation of Public Broadcasting, the Federal Communications Commission, University of Missouri, and government entities.
   » Communicateeffectively and maintains a strong and supportive working relationship with the General Manager and KCUR leadership abilities.
   » Workclosely with the Community Advisory Board and Advisory Councils to advance public service mission and engagement.
   » Serve on leadership abilities team.
   » Provide leadership abilities and guidance for organizational diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
   » Assist development staff with fundraising strategies including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of prospective and existing individual, institutional, and business prospects, donors, and underwriters.
   » Represent the stations in the community.
   » Other tasks as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and practice and at least 6 years of practice from which comparable expertise and expertise can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred qualifications

   » At least 6 years of operational management, preferably in a media environment
   » practice working in a non-profit, public media, or university environment is a plus
   » Demonstrated success in an executive leadership abilities function
   » practice in developing, implementing, and achieving both short-range and long-term goals, specifically when Information technology comes to capital planning
   » Creative thinker/planner/problem solver that is innovative and idea-rich
   » Proven attention to detail, organizational abilities, and efficiencies
   » capability to provide professional service to all levels of the station and university including executive and senior staff and civic leaders
   » Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication expertise; verbal and written
   » Able to work and resolve problems independently with little supervision
   » Enthusiasm for public radio and classical music
   » Advanced degree such as MBA or MPA
