The Revolutionary Emergency Partners branch of REP provides emergency care to Twin Cities community members via a secure hotline. ABOUT THE function REP is seeking a Tech Manager to facilitate the technological structures and systems that are a central part of REP's work. This includes working with developers, training staff and volunteer CARERs to use our technology, keeping hardware and software running and accessible for REP's dispatch system, and troubleshooting tech issues when REP's hotline is live. We are seeking for a reliable and detail-oriented person who has good communication expertise in navigating between people, technology, and organizational systems. Start date is January 2022. This is a one-year contract position (can be extended) with quarterly check-ins. Flexible schedule (see requirements below), 10-15 hours per week, with more over the first few months and during training periods 2-3 times a year. Work is home-located (including after COVID) and occasionally at REP's space in South Minneapolis. RESPONSIBILITIES/tasks contact with developers • Set-up weekly meetings with developers and steer software development process • Identify tasks for testing and development, implement product testing, report back to developers • Troubleshoot as required, escalate issues to appropriate teams Tech training & support • Train CARERs in using REP's dispatch system & technology • Train new staff in Office 365 • Develop and maintain tech training manual and how-to guides • Provide on-call tech support for hotline, particularly when new software is in production (frequency varies; estimated as a few a month, especially with software rollouts) Manage devices & technology • Purchase and set up REP’s hardware and technology • Maintain equipment: keep devices charged, address glitches and needs for repair Admin • Network/OS admin: add users to various systems, keep user database updated • Develop a system for accumulating and assessing hotline data from CARERs and callers on successes and areas for improvement • Audit digital security; create and implement new protocols • Run weekly reports and share back hotline data with staff Qualifications or requirementsexpertise desired• Comfort and enthusiasm for working with an abolitionist vision • capability to communicate proactively and be responsive to others • Time and project management expertise • Motivation to initiate and follow through on tasks independently with the capacity to be accountable when deliverables are not met • capability to ask for help and give/receive feedback as we grow this project and ?build the bike as we ride it? practice needed • Adept with technology and software platforms, specifically Office 365, Twilio, Azure, and common encrypted applications • Skilled in training non-tech-savvy people how to use technology in a friendly, approachable way • Lived practice and/or work in Black and IPOC communities • Familiarity with consensus decision-making & working within a horizontal structure • capability to create new record-keeping systems to track things such as glitches and feature requests • Familiar with digital security auditing • practice working with a software development team preferred • practice with community safety work is a bonus Requirements • Cell phone and access to a computer and internet • capability and availability to follow COVID protocols • Attend weekly zoom meetings from 6-8pm on Mondays and midday on a few weekdays • Respond to troubleshooting requests while hotline is live Friday/Saturdays, 6pm-12:30am • Participation in some of REP's responder trainings in 2022 WHO IS A GOOD FIT FOR THIS WORK?
