Primary Function of Organizational Unit The Department offers an ABET-accredited BS in Engineering with concentrations in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Bioprocess Engineering. There are currently 28 faculty and over 550 undergraduate engineering majors. The department has a rapidly growing undergraduate student population and recently started a new graduate (MS) program in biomedical engineering in collaboration with the ECU Brody School of Medicine and the ECU School of Dental Medicine.

Job tasks The selected candidate will be primarily responsible for the processing and management of all accounts, purchasing and personnel actions in the Department of Engineering. In addition, the selected candidate will serve as the manager for the other SRHA position in the department. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, tracking all accounts that include state operating budget, the departmental foundation budget, research budget, indirect budget, CET Student Fee, and scholarships. The selected candidate will analyze budget data, identify and fix problems, and create reports for the department chair. The selected candidate will also provide grant and contract support for the department. This will include the oversight of all grants and start-up funds for the department. The selected candidate will work with and support the faculty investigators (PIs) to ensure compliance with grant/contact-related ECU policies and external sponsors and procedures. The selected candidate will also be responsible for personnel actions and for maintaining related files in the department. The selected candidate will be administratively involved in the hiring process of all faculty and staff for the department. The selected candidate will work with the department chair, with search committee chairs, and with the Personnel Committee regarding the hiring process. The selected candidate will complete/compile hiring documents and checklists and will be responsible for creating EPAFs to be approved by the chair and then forwarded to the Dean's office for approval. The selected candidate will have administrative authority for various functions related to personnel such as maintain records for probationary and fixed-term faculty appointments and hiring part-time faculty. The selected candidate will be responsible for all purchasing including purchases for state funds, grants, foundations, and special funds. The selected candidate will make deposits as necessary. The selected candidate will work on other projects for the chairperson as needed.
