The accomplishments of candidates for this position must reflect their commitment to working with an inclusive student population, and their capability to contribute in significant ways to the diversity and intercultural academic goals of the university. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track appointment. Responsibilities include teaching, primarily Introduction to Film courses. Instruction will include evening courses, as needed. Additionally, this position involves serving as recruiter and community outreach coordinator who connects the film program with the increasing number of production teams, studios, and film/TV related companies in the mid-south area. Other tasks as assigned. The candidate for this position must have an advanced degree, MA or MFA, in the field of film and video. Some production practice is required. Familiarity with Memphis and the mid-south area is preferred. With an enrollment of 22,000 students, The University of Memphis is a leading metropolitan research university, noted for drawing on the strengths and challenges of our urban setting and region. One of six departments in the College of Communication and Fine Arts, the Department of Communication & Film includes 20 full-time faculty members, approximately 50 graduate students (MA and PhD), and approximately 300 undergraduate majors. At the undergraduate and MA levels, we offer concentrations in Film and Video production and Communication.
