Job Summary/Basic Function: Job Summary:
Lamar University seeks two practiced and motivated people to serve as Business Analysts supporting the Ellucian Banner ERP system, with a focus on the Finance and HR modules. The purpose of these positions is to serve as liaison between functional and technical responsibilities in the everyday operations of the Ellucian Banner ERP system and to provide analysis, consultation, and documentation of complex design solutions. The Business Analyst will provide day-to-day support for a variety of third-party integrations, which includes Evisions applications (FormFusion and Intellecheck). The finance person will also have support responsibility for spreadsheet budgeting, travel and expense management, and purchasing management. The HR person will provide support within the Evisions application suite and other applications to include the campus training software and various Texas HR reporting processes. This position does require occasional after-hours and/or weekend support of operations.

Job tasks
   » Provide users with liaison and technical support, including system configuration and guidance in system use, for administrative applications.
   » Support departmental staff and administration with the identification, evaluation, selection, support, and maintenance of systems solutions.
   » Plan and develop day-to-day policies and procedures to promote prosperous performance of administrative systems.
   » Participate in the planning of upgrades to the Ellucian Banner software including the evaluation of the effort involved, the steps required, and the provision of information related to operational changes
   » Perform analysis and design by meeting with functional users to discuss business needs; documenting requirements and risks; designing a solution; developing test plans to verify functionality of the solution; reviewing software patches and upgrades; recommending schedule for implementation of patches and upgrades; leading testing effort; obtaining approval for functional leads for promoting patches and upgrades to production.
   » Serve as a liaison between Business Units and Information Technology (IT) technical staff by communicating with business units, federal and state agencies, and vendors; translating business needs to detailed specifications for development; interpreting detailed specifications to a level of general knowledge; and developing test plans to verify the functionality of the solution.
   » Provide problem resolution by using programming languages, operating systems and software applications; and debugging/troubleshooting problems with data and reports.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
   » Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and at least three years of related practice, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and practice.
   » Functional knowledge/practice in the use of an ERP System.
   » capability to work with functional business units and coordinate technological solutions to meet business needs.
   » Familiarity with SQL programming language.
   » Strong desktop automation expertise including effective use of e-mail, word processors, spreadsheets, and the capability to use tools in conjunction with databases.
   » Strong problem-solving expertise.
   » Strong interpersonal communication expertise and the capability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, vendors and the public are required.
   » Strong written and oral communication expertise, and organizational expertise.
   » Proven time management expertise with the capability to manage multiple tasks, communicate project status and provide leadership abilities and direction for assigned initiatives.

   » Functional knowledge of the Finance module and the HR module of the Banner ERP System. practice with other modules within Banner or other ERP systems will be considered.
   » Oracle practice is a plus.
   » practice with the following products:

o practice with Banner system patches and upgrades.
o practice with Appworx (UC4).
o practice with Spreadsheet Budgeting.
o practice with eProcurement
o practice with TouchNet
o practice with Chrome River
o practice with People Admin
o Working knowledge of any programming/query language such as, but not limited to, SQL, PL/SQL, C, Shell Script, etc.
